As of October 1st, workers across the UK can keep 100% of their tips, thanks to the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act. This new law ensures that all gratuities, service charges, and tips go directly to employees without deductions.
Important to note: From now on, if an employer breaks the law and retains tips, workers can bring a claim to an employment tribunal and hold them accountable. Expected to return £200 million to workers' pockets, this is just the beginning of the government’s proposed plan to 'Make Work Pay'.
