Your Mobile as An Identity

Mobile is replacing most things we grew up with. When I was a child, telephone was dialed, you had to go into a bank to see a teller and ultimately, you need to hold on tight to your keys to gain access to any locked place.

With the convergence of mobile for various purpose, there are different examples of how mobile is fast becoming a key, password and identity for access.

I will give four product examples of identity and access management solutions. Please note that I am not tied to this companies in any way. I have chosen them as examples of mobile identity and access management solutions that works.

 My first example is the Nymi Band.  The Nymi Band is a unique and innovative wrist band paired with the ECG makeup of the user. It is the ultimate identity verifier as no two ECG are ever the same. The Nymi band can be adopted for SME or enterprise level identity verification usage.

The next example is OKTA.  Quite a lot of enterprise level, public institutions and SMEs are using OKTA for their identity verification and management. A very easy example is London Gatwick Airport.

In the public space in the UK, the government is using Verify  as a form of identity. The government is exploring digital and mobile blend of identity verification. The service is still in its infancy, so there are few teething problems. This should improve over time. The current analytics reveals that quite a lot of access of Verify is being made via mobile devices.

The NFC technology has been around for a while. This is now being used globally for entry access, contactless payments and many more usage. NFC usage for identity  verification is quite interesting because this is one technology that’s been around for a while, but largely underutilized.

The example above shows NFC technology being used to open a door.It’s happening now. Mobile technology is advanced.

As a solution, it can be used for many things. These three are just examples that are commonly used.
