Your Mind Is Like A Sponge

Your mind is like a sponge.?Robert M. Hansel said, “The mind is like a sponge, soaking up endless drops of knowledge.”?Robert M.?Hensel?was born with a congenital disability known as Spina bifida. A disability that has not stopped him from achieving success in his life. He is a Guinness World Records holder for the longest non-stop wheelie in a wheelchair, covering a total distance of 6.178 miles.

If a sponge sits in a puddle of dirty water, it will be full of contaminated water. The mind works similarly. If the mind repeatedly hears negative thoughts such as, “I’m not smart enough. I won’t ever make it. I’m too unfit/weak, etc. I’m not good enough. They won’t like me.” The mind will absorb those words like a sponge and store them like a warehouse storage facility.

But eventually, these negative thoughts take hold like an alligator's bite and wreak havoc in our lives.

No matter how skilled you are at preventing negative thoughts from entering your mind, they will find a way into your head. So, precluding them from destroying your relationships, career, and life is essential.

We have little control over the thoughts that seep into our heads, but we have 100 percent control over how we respond to them. And how you react to what you’re thinking will determine whether you live a life of unhappiness and regret or joy and fulfillment.

I believe that life is about choices. You can choose how you react to your thoughts. It’s not easy, yet possible when you become mindful of your thoughts and how you’re responding to them.

Over two decades, I’ve witnessed the devastating impact of limiting thinking and beliefs on salespeople’s careers, whether it’s the struggle with call reluctance, the fear of rejection, or scarcity thinking.
