Is your Messaging Killing you?

A few years ago, I spoke to a consultant who said he was writing a book called ‘Is Today the Day You Get Fired?’ ?That was a bad title, in my view.
I blurted out, ‘Why not call it ‘Fireproof: 12 Ways to Keep Your Job’.? Think of the great graphic?’? I’m already visualizing the book cover.?He didn’t get it.?
Maybe you do, though.? As a professional speaker, you need to be good at marketing, not airborne in a leaky balloon.?Look through your prospect’s eyes.?? Without emotional buy-in, you’ll only draw in those who really need your message and miss those on the periphery who would benefit from your message but don’t realize it.? Yet.?
Once you’ve got the emotional hook, you need to appeal to the logic.
How many times have you turned away from a message with no substance?
The same part of our brain (the limbic system) that falls in love at first sight or is drawn in by a compelling message is also where the ‘fight or flight’ instinct resides.
You’ve hooked your prospect but they have one foot out the door.? Now you need to appeal to their logic.? It’s easy as long as you keep using a conversational tone – logic doesn’t have to be boring.
Finish with a call to action – do you want them to call you or to attend your seminar??
Bad messaging kills the sale!?
