If your marriage is suffering, this is something to consider.
Ask yourself: What is it like for my partner to be loved by me?
That’s a big question. I actually asked myself that once and I realized that my husband was totally being neglected, and that being loved by me meant that I wasn’t paying much attention to him.
When you realize what it’s like for your spouse to be loved by you and when you put yourself in their shoes, you start to have a deeper understanding of what they’re going through, and what needs they have that aren’t being met. And vice versa, sharing with them what it feels like to be loved by them. Not in a judgmental, critical way, but in an openhearted, sharing, loving way.
