Your marketing success depends upon how good you are at storytelling
If your customers cannot connect with what you are telling, how can they trust you? Good marketing is all about winning the trust of your audience. Businesses and marketers that are able to achieve this have been able to reap great rewards.
But how can a business win the trust of its audience? Well, the secret to achieving this lies in one of the oldest traditions of human history - storytelling. The art of storytelling is as old as human civilization itself. It is through the stories we heard from of parents and grandparents that we have been made familiar with our ancestors. And, this ancient art of storytelling has now made its importance felt in the field of marketing as well.
“Bring a new way to manage work. Try a project management software!”
Successful marketing has become more about storytelling than anything else. I always think of Nike as the best example of a brand that does not sell products, but emotions. Pick any of the campaigns the company has started during the recent past, and you will get to see that they have been based on great storytelling. The latest one centered around ‘Equality’.
If you want to make your brand name sell in the market, focus on storytelling. But, you cannot just write random stories. You need to focus on what the people want to hear. Here are some of the topics you can narrow down your storytelling endeavors to -
The origin story
Your origin story can be the best way to leave a mark on the heart of your audience.
Why you chose to start your business? What inspired you to come up with the idea of starting your company? What struggles you had to face during the early part? What keeps you moving even today to follow your dream? There’s a hidden message behind every business. Create a compelling storyline that gives people the real picture about your business. Let them know why you are doing what you are doing. And, carve a niche in their heart.
Behind the scenes
Nothing works better in winning the trust of your audience than transparency.
Transparency is the key word in marketing these days. Show people what goes behind the scenes while creating an awesome product or service experience for them. By keeping things in the open, you can win the trust of the users and showcase the real you, which can work great towards getting the attention you deserve.
Show much effort you and your team puts everyday so that your customer’s get nothing but the best. And, let them know how much fun you have while creating what you are creating for your customers!
Customer success
An empowered customer can do what no marketing campaign can do for your business.
People feel emotionally secure while investing in a product or service when they know someone like them has already been empowered by it. This makes customer stories the nitro boost that your marketing efforts need. Customer success stories work as a means of not just gaining customer attraction and trust, but it also brings a proud feeling that someone has been benefited from your product/ service.
Spread your customer testimonials not just on the website, but on social media and wherever possible. Let everyone know how you are helping people solve their problems.
Your employee stories
Good work culture can bring great business for your company.
Another story that you can inculcate in your marketing campaigns is that of your employees being happy working for you. Happy faces in your marketing campaigns could fill the emotional void that generally exists between businesses and their customers. Rather than cooking up stories, showcase the real side of your business with real people in it.
Let the superheroes working for your business come out in the open so that people get to know their story, and your work culture.
