Most of the marketers, I have worked with try to target every single user present on this planet but try to understand this is not feasible.

Let's talk sense, you must use the SMART process to define your goals, simple.

specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.

Let's say my goal is to grow my sales through Twitter by 15% in next 3 months. So you must have a strategy prepared for it before putting any effort.

Merely posting content on social media or blogs will not help you reach what you want through marketing. So you must have an attainable goal and USP of your business identified.

ANALYTICS

The best thing about marketing is that it is measurable via analysis. Use awesome advance analysis tools and understand your user behavior. Wheather he is coming via referral traffic or via social and which demographics? These all are important to know so that you must know whom to target and succeed in your venture.

SUMMING UP

Know your business USP, define your resources, understand your user and how you can add value. The processes are quite important and interesting if followed religiously and yield results for the organizations as observed by experts.
