1. Make sure there is nothing in your checked luggage that you will need immediately, like medecine. 2. Make sure there is nothing valuable in there like personal documents or jewellery. 3. Make sure it is clearly identified with solid luggage tags (more than one just in case) and personalized markings, and that the bag tag for your flight is well-attached. 4. Keep your bag tag receipt until you pick up your luggage at your destination. It has the airline tracking number on it. 5. If you have a stopover, make sure your luggage is checked through to your destination, or that you know if you have to pick it up and re-check it. 6. Put in an Apple AirTag or other tracking device. 7. Take a picture with your phone so you can provide it to the airline in case it gets lost, along with a detailed description like brand, colour, type (wheeled upright, hard/soft shell, duffel bag, etc.) 8. Know the contents of the bag so you can describe it to the airline in case it gets lost, and provide details for insurance and airline compensation purposes. 9. Some airlines now provide text or email updates tracking the progress of your luggage. Ask your airline if they do this and stay on top of these.
