Your Losses Are Building Your Roots
Can you recall all the times you have lost in your life— (a promotion, a game, a new client, etc.)? When you look back, did you truly lose—or were those moments preparing you for something bigger, something you were not ready to handle at that time?
Sometimes, a setback isn’t the end; it is the foundation for a great launch. It is like the bamboo tree Les Brown talks about—it spends five years underground, unseen, as it builds deep, sturdy roots. Each day may seem like nothing is happening, but that seed is preparing to break through the ground and grow 90 feet in just six weeks. It is not about instant results; it is about the strength being built to withstand any storm that comes its way.
Or consider Tom Brady. Drafted 199th in the sixth round, he started his career as a fourth-string quarterback. No one saw the greatness that would emerge. But through his perseverance, preparation, and grit, he climbed to become one of the greatest quarterbacks of All-Time, winning seven Super Bowls. His journey reminds us that it is not where you start but where you are headed that defines your legacy. Or what about Michael Jordan who missed 12,345 shots during his career; but do we remember the misses? No. We celebrate his six championships and his legacy as one of the greatest basketball players of All-Time. Every miss, every setback, was just another step toward his greatness.
So, when it feels like you are losing, remember: Every challenge, Every failure, Is laying the foundation for your success. Keep going because your breakthrough is coming.
