Your life's best work

Doing your life’s best work is not a chance. It is a habit you develop consciously.

There are 3 things you have to be willing to do -

  1. Be unreasonable in expectations from yourself - Take time developing clarity of outcome you want and visualizing it in detail. See what will meet your wildest expectations. Stay with this thought of excellence every day and evaluate yourself often.
  2. Be okay to follow your curiosity - Do things in insane depths only because you are curious to learn more about a specific subject. And it is not enough to know a subject in-depth. You have to connect the dots of that subject in a very unexpected way into something only you can.
  3. Take risks to be different - Be away from what everyone else is doing. Do not follow a safe path. Do things that others find hard or on the fringes. That is where you can differentiate yourself and create a space for yourself.

A great example is Christopher Nolan, director of movies such as Memento, Inception, Interstellar. Every movie Nolan takes up, he wants it to be the best work of his career. Since Nolan was 10, he was very interested in dreams and how we believe something is real in time and space in dreams when it is not. He continued to explore this topic of time and space and applied it uniquely in storytelling to all of his movies. By doing this, Nolan has created a unique genre for himself where people find his movies unforgettable.

Take time to explore what will be your life’s work and apply it to everything you do.
