Your Life, Your Dreams & A City Set on a Hill

I had a very good friend, Jay.
She was a confidant and a sister. She would always tell me, “Lorrencia don’t let anything, or anyone dim your light because you’re a city set on hill.”
She said this to me so many times especially when life would just throw curveballs and we both needed assurance and encouragement. I imbibed those words. It rang in my ears and whenever we met to have a conversation, she would repeat it to me.
?It served as a reminder and a mantra for us.
Mathew 5:14-16 had a whole new meaning for me because my friend constantly drummed it into my head.
So why am I sharing this with you?
You see that dream that burns inside of you, that passion, that is your light.
You may have dimmed it because of the fear of the unknown or what people will say when you reveal it, but I think this is your reminder to bring your full self into on board your life’s journey.
What’s the worst that can happen when you choose to follow your dreams?
What is holding you back?
That you keep crawling and tiptoeing through the one life God has given you does not make you humble.
Humility does not mean dim your light and drown your dreams in the face of obstacles. No good thing comes easy remember.
My message is simple, that dream you’ve nurtured for years is your light and it’s time to let it shine.
The world is waiting
You’ve given too many excuses and complains
It’s time to lock in.

My friend Jay may not have lived long enough to see the realization of the things we dreamt and prayed about; but God’s words in Mathew 5:14-16 through her voice continue to serve as a reminder for me to never stop believing in myself. Even in heaven, she still inspires me. (God rest her soul).

Here are some few points to note as we go through this year.
?
1. No one owes you anything. Work towards the life you want.
2. 2025 will not be a different year if you don't do things differently. Repeating the mistakes of past years will not result in a better you.
3. Do the things that bring you joy.
4. Learn to say No.
5. Dreams remain dreams until you put in the work
6. Identify something you’re good at and gain mastery of it.
7. Your time is your life. Manage it well. You don’t have to be everywhere
8. Take risks. Growth does not happen when you are comfortable.
9. Network intentionally
10. Take care of yourself; spiritually, physically, mentally
11. Never stop striving to do better than yesterday. Remember the world will not clap for you twice for doing the same thing.
12. Most importantly PRAY: Never start anything that without the leading of God
I believe that every new year is an opportunity, a plain canvas and a fresh start. Sometimes it is also a gift of time for you to finish what you’ve started in the previous years.
A city set on a hill has a strong foundation. Make 2025 the year you’ve always wanted it to be.
It is your call.
