Your learning journey
Why should you consider planning a learning journey??
We are surrounded by step-by-step tasks, a to-do list, must- have activities to be something we are not. Do you really think that once you listen to an instructor who is telling you to follow these steps to become an expert on any topic, you would then magically become an expert? You know those lists: 9 steps to becoming a successful leader, 10 must-have skills for a coach, 5 certifications to become an expert. Unfortunately, learning is not that easy or straightforward but rather a long and windy journey.?
This is your life-long learning journey, and you better enjoy the ride because you are only taking it once. If it were easy to learn what we read, watch, or listen to, our world would be very different. No re-exams, no stress of remembering, no difference between theory and practice. But unfortunately, the reality for most people is different. It is very hard to change our behavior, our understanding, and our previously gained experiences that easily. It would be great to start behaving like written in the coursebook once you finished reading it.?
You need to do more than this; you need to start applying small pieces of what you learn to your daily activities, practice the concept taught, think about it, discuss with others, collaborate, maybe even teach back to others. It takes time; you might achieve the desired learning concept with small steps. Any method alone will not do, so you need a whole toolbox full of necessary methods for learning, remembering, and applying your skills.
There are several models and methods that you need to be aware of. We will unfold each one of the models in later blogs. They have inspired us during our own learning journey.

1 年How does the learning journey affect our goal? If person A followed path A and reached his goal and person B by following path B reached the same goal will that affect him in any way? What might be the difference?
Some great advice and applying small chunks of learning in practice.
