We all want to be the hero of our own story, whether it’s for our children / grandchildren, our families, our partners, our business, our teams, or our communities. (This does not mean wanting fame or stardom.) We all have an inner desire to be the hero of something. Why do you think kids dress up as superheroes all the time?
The problem is we don’t always understand what it means to be a hero. In television, movies and comic books, the heroes battle evil villains, overcome the impossible, and save the day! I’m talking about being a hero on a much smaller scale – an everyday hero.
A good friend of mine once said that one of his main goals in life is to be his sons’ hero. I think that’s a terrific and achievable goal – for all of us.
Here are a few factors to be the hero of your own story:
- Be bold
- Be clear
- Stand for something
- Speak up
- Take risks
- Walk your talk
- Dream
- Experience
- Live
- Lead
