Your job application checklist
In this post, I am going to share some ‘intel information’ regarding the recruitment process here at Knowledge E. I will give you as a job applicant some tips and tricks that you can use for any job you might apply for, now or in the future, at Knowledge E or any other company.?
We are not a recruitment company nor an HR company, the following is purely from my perspective, heading the recruitment here at Knowledge E.?
I love being ‘on the other side of the table’ during interviews and I find the recruitment process very exciting. Who will be my next colleague? However, I also remember my past interviews and how nerve-racking it can be, and this is why I wanted to write this blog. I will guide you step by step, starting from before the interview, during the interview all the way to after the interview.
Before the interview
- Read the job description carefully (only apply for jobs where you fulfil the minimum requirements and that you are genuinely interested in)
- Make sure your CV is updated, complete and without spelling mistakes
- Be creative with your CV (this is your chance to stand out, avoid word documents, pdf format is preferred)
- Attach a cover letter when possible
During the interview
- Be on time (leave ample time for parking, elevator hiccups etc. If you have to cancel/postpone or if you run late, call to inform)
- Dress to impress
- Try to relax (this is probably one of the hardest points, but it is important that we get to see the real you)
- Do your homework (apart from the job description, research the full company website, social media is always a plus)
- Ask questions
- Be truthful (no matter what the question is, truth always wins)
- Highlight what you can bring to the table

Bonus tip: Take notes (I personally think it shows your engagement and it comes in handy later when you go home and process everything)
After the interview
- Be patient (the recruitment process can be lengthy)
- Follow up (this shows interest from your side, just be mindful of the timing)
- Do not give up (the job market is tough, if the recruitment process did not lead to employment this time, try again next time a suitable position appears)
I hope this guide can help you along the way on your job application journey. Just remember that we have all been in your situation at one point and if you are not successful this time, more chances will come along. There is only one of you!
Last but not least, good luck with your application, whether it is with us or somewhere else!
