Being by the sea can be such a restorative experience, don't you think? It can provide a fantastic opportunity for you to heal from those emotional wounds you may carry, and shake off anxiety and overwhelm, as you gently shift perspective.
?
You’ll always find me at the shore on an early morning or late evening walk, as the sun is coming up or softening down.?
This is the perfect opportunity for me to walk and reflect at the beach with my dog Alfie... to count my blessings, to think about things, to get creative with problem solving or to develop ideas.?If I’ve an article to get written, or if working on my next book, I’ll take myself to the beach; my inspiration to write tends to flow freely.?
Moving here to be by the beach was an amazing decision nearly five years ago – and being able to provide psycho dynamic therapy and mentoring with my one-of-a-kind 1:1 coastal retreats is a dream come true!
?
I’m often asked by my London friends why I love living by the beach so much??
It took me a little while to realise just what it is – it’s the moment of getting to those beach steps and absorbing afresh the combination of light and space;?
?It’s the reassuring sound of the waves breaking on the shore – to hold the silence in the pause.?
?Always with the certainty that the next rolling wave is right there.?
From being so anxious as a child and until my late twenties, I think my subconscious mind still gets a sense of ease with that 'certainty' of the wave! I love it :)?
?
Overall, the power of the sea can strengthen your psychological and emotional wellness. For instance:
The sound of waves crashing on the shore?can be incredibly soothing and calming, helping you to relax and unwind, and lift your mood.
As you unwind and get in touch with nature, your?endorphins (happy hormones) can help lessen anxiety and overwhelm.
Swimming in the salt water reduces inflammation and balances your nerves?which eases anxiety and brings calm to your body and mind. (Alfie loves to swim with me too as you can see here!)
?
And when you need to strengthen your relationship, mother nature does it best.?
The seashore is a beautiful and peaceful environment that can help to heal your relationship by providing a relaxing and romantic atmosphere.?
Whether you are trying to mend a broken relationship or strengthen a current one, the seashore offers a therapeutic and calming environment; one that promotes communication, understanding, and intimacy.
?
Being at the seashore can help ease tensions and promote relaxation?reducing stress levels that contribute to relationship breakdown.
It's an ideal space for open and honest communication.?The chance to spend quality time together can all help to facilitate meaningful conversations that can strengthen your bond.
A romantic setting that can help promote emotional intimacy in your relationship?can all help to create a deeper emotional connection and enhance physical closeness.
An opportunity to re-set.?Being at the seashore can help you to feel more connected to nature, to each other, and to yourself. This sense of connection can help to heal past wounds and create a renewed sense of love and dedication in your relationship.
