When I was a kid, I was regularly told that if I did good in school that the government would pay for my education to get a good job.
What really happened is a 4.0 was largely discounted and full scholarships were only given to athletes or that one lucky soul voted in from one of the big high schools in the state.
It was an eye-opener that taught me that the government wasn't charity and it should stay out of my pocket and my way.
I took my half scholarship and work study to get an education at the Collins College of Business.
Maybe my friends had more fun at the state schools, but I pushed myself beyond what I thought I could accomplish and had only $3,000 in debt with a lifetime of skills.
Today I'm a CEO and business technology expert, yet my identity is mostly demonstrating how you can achieve results in most aspects of life.
