Your Health is Pending...
Many years ago I was a dedicated Martial Artist. It was a great introduction into the balance of mind and body, east and west, and exercise and rest, among many others. While I do not practice the art currently, I have found that the fundamentals I learned have managed to consistently remain a part of my life and pervade my weekly routines. One of the quotes my Sensei would repeat frequently was "Physical fitness is a temporary condition which requires permanent maintenance". This quote really applied to everything we were doing inside and outside the dojo. While we were being taught about self defense, we were also being taught self respect. At the same time, learning how to prepare oneself for any assault or attack requires preparation and awareness. If you are aware of your abilities and your surroundings, you are prepared to avoid an encounter. If you are taking care of yourself daily, you are preparing yourself to avoid health problems and disease. In other words, you have health today, but it is pending. It hangs in the balance. It is dependent on what you do next. What is your next move? Every day you have options to choose from. You can focus on food, exercise, posture etc. or you can focus on other things. Some of these things can bring health to you, while others may bring you negative consequences in the long run. However, there is a lot of time wasted on things that do no harm, but also do no good. If they are not contributing to your health, then they are a waste of time. They displace health and put it on hold. Your health is pending...it requires some attention each day to maintain. Health is a temporary condition which requires permanent maintenance! The human body does a fantastic job of mending damaged tissues to maintain function. However, it is crucial that you take the lead and challenge your body with all the good stress that the world offers you. Climb mountains, swim seas, run trails, eat a diet rich in plant foods, drink water as if the supply is about to run out, hang out with happy, positive people, and push and pull your weight to a better body. Your life depends on it, and your health does too...but your health status is pending on your action today. Health can be lost from one day to the next, or it can be regained from one day to the next. Check your status when you wake up tomorrow, and take action.
