Your Health is Imperative!
Larry Shaffer
X-Factor Performance, Coach and Mentor. Former head of marketing at Insperity.
I’m now 60 years old…and getting younger. A year ago, however, I was borderline diabetic, had high blood pressure and was on pharmaceuticals to control it, had swollen ankles, bags under my eyes and tested positive for parasites, (don’t ask).
Like most senior executives, my schedule is fast-paced and demanding. It can be hard to maintain those good habits that are essential to lead well over time. There is always another project or meeting that seems more pressing than taking time for one’s self. However, prioritizing your health and wellness means better focus and higher levels of energy. By making the effort to be healthy, leaders also set an example for their employees that they too must take care of themselves.
So, after looking in the mirror last year, I made an appointment with national nutrition and performance expert, Dr. Wesley Fox, and committed to make my life change for the better. Since then I can see and feel the difference in myself. I have more energy, think more clearly, and am contributing more both personally and professionally. As you begin setting your goals for the upcoming year, consider starting with your health and well-being to help you achieve the rest of your goals.
