Back-to-school season is here, and many post-secondary students are eager to gain practical experience in their field of study. The programs listed below can help bridge the gap between in-class learning and real-world experience in the workplace.

Say goodbye to long job searches and say hello to the opportunities waiting for you!

1.?????? Are you looking for hands-on work experience in a specific industry?

The Student Work Placement Program offers paid work opportunities for post-secondary students to enhance and apply their skills. This can include internships, practicums and co-op placements. Placements are in various sectors—from the trucking and food industries, to tech and entrepreneurship—and are open to students across Canada!

2.?????? Want to participate in work-integrated learning?

The Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Initiative helps post-secondary students access work-integrated learning, including short-term work placements, virtual internships, hackathons, business cases and classroom projects to help the community. These short and intensive opportunities leverage technology and align with your field of study.

3.?????? Interested in exploring a career in the skilled trades?

Expertise in the skilled trades is in high-demand and offers many rewarding work opportunities for those looking to make a meaningful impact in their careers. The Government of Canada provides Canadians with information about what the skilled trades are, how to become a tradesperson and what financial supports are available to them while in training.

4.?????? Want to work or study abroad?

Working or studying abroad can provide unique networking opportunities and help you stand out among others when navigating the job market.

Check out the Global Skills Opportunity which facilitates international work placements and study abroad opportunities for post-secondary students.

Are you ready to take the leap?

Each program is unique to fit your needs and there to support you in building new skills and connections.

As you prepare for the new fall semester, consider how these programs could complement your education and make your career goals a reality!
