Your Greatest Nightmare As A Freelance Writer

Your Greatest Nightmare As A Freelance Writer

Forget what you know, nightmares can happen in broad daylight!

Scene One (1).

If you have ever had a client who looked so genuine, with pure intentions, contact you asking for a free sample - then you can relate.

You've spent hours researching.

You've written the sample as requested.

You've sent it to the client.

And...

The client has disappeared!

No new messages. Nothing.

That right there will give you nightmares in broad daylight.

Scene Two (2).

You've been contacted by a client who has agreed to take the project off a freelance platform...because:

1. They want to pay you weekly/monthly.

2. Freelance platforms charge them "high" percentages on money spent.

3. They want to access you faster.

You're happy, you have an agreement.

After the first week/month of intensive writing, the client ghosts you, with all the written articles/copies.

This is the REAL NIGHTMARE.

Hold on! I'd like to have a good laugh at this point.

??????????????????

There! I'm good now!

I don't need to tell you never to RELIVE any of the above scenes ever again.

If you choose to be like Homer Simpson and repeat silly mistakes over and over again, that's on you.

Here's what I'll tell you anyway...

How To Scale Such Situations Successfully.

In the first scene, all you have to do is tell your client to pay a small fee for the sample you will write.

(Even if it's $5).

Anyone that sees potential in working with you will pay to have a sample from you.

Especially if you've already shared prewritten samples earlier.

If they refuse to pay for the sample...you're free to walk away.

For Scene Two...

My advice is to never take project payments off freelance platforms.

There's a reason ESCROW exists on these platforms.

If you are so stubborn as Bart Simpson and you must take the project off-platform.

Make sure to request 50-60% of your payment upfront before you start working with them.

This is very important.

If you chose to joke with this...

I'll be right here waiting to laugh at you once again!!!
