Your Goldmine of Video Content Opportunity

You’re a manufacturer and you want to make video content to boost your marketing and streamline your business, but you can’t imagine why anyone would be interested in the normal things that happen in your company.

Does this sound familiar?

We often hear this when we’re approached by new clients but the truth is, every business has a wealth of video content opportunities.

The only difference is your perspective.


One of the things we love about our work as a production company in the industrial sector is being invited into businesses to see how things work and what goes on behind the curtains.?

One of my early industrial photography commissions was inside a factory doing surface treatments. This was something I’d dealt with on paper as an aerospace engineer, but never seen in real life. I remember the client being concerned there was nothing worth photographing, but I was fascinated and couldn’t stop taking pictures!

There are plenty of other examples; have you ever seen how abrasive belts are constructed and glued together? Do you know how paint is manufactured or how large compressors are assembled??


These are all things that happen every day within the facilities of our clients. These everyday things are not particularly noteworthy to the people working there - they see the same processes going on and assume everyone must know about it.

But put yourself in the shoes of someone who’s never seen what you do.

Imagine your first day there, learning how everything is made and how it goes together, why things are done in a certain way and the little tricks people use to simplify the process.?

What were you interested in, what excited you and what questions did you have? How about when people visit your premises; what questions do they have, what are they interested in?

That’s who you’re talking to in the content you’re going to create.


Everything you do and everything your colleagues know is interesting to someone. You get to see this stuff every day, but we don’t. And we’d love to see it!

Extract and share what you know, and you’ll have a wealth of content ideas right there. It’s just a case of unlocking the potential.


Here are five questions to ask yourself to help unearth valuable content ideas:

1. What could I show people about what we do??

2. What could I demonstrate about how we do it?

3. Why was this business started and/or why did I start working here?

4. What are we asked regularly by our customers or prospects?

5. What do I take for granted; what seems normal to me?


Brainstorm the answers to these questions - give yourself permission to write EVERYTHING down, in a completely messy brain dump!

You’ll soon have a ton of content ideas which you can start making today.
