Your Giants Are Defeated

Your Giants Are Defeated

What giants are you facing today?

?

Are they physical, emotional, or spiritual?

?

Do they seem too large and overwhelming to overcome?

?

They’re not. You have already been given the power to defeat them.

?

The Spies

?

Let’s look at the story of the twelve spies that were sent into the land of Canaan to check out the land.

?

Numbers 13:1-3 (NIV) talks about Moses sending out the spies.

?

1?The?Lord?said to Moses,?

2?“Send some men to explore?the land of Canaan,?which I am giving to the Israelites.?From each ancestral tribe?send one of its leaders.”

3?So at the?Lord’s command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders of the Israelites.?

?

Numbers 26-33 is the report that the spies gave.

?

26?They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh?in the Desert of Paran.?There they reported to them?and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.?

27?They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey!?Here is its fruit.?

28?But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.?We even saw descendants of Anak?there.?

29?The Amalekites?live in the Negev; the Hittites,?Jebusites?and Amorites?live in the hill country;?and the Canaanites?live near the sea and along the Jordan.”

30?Then Caleb?silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

31?But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”?

32?And they spread among the Israelites a bad report?about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours?those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.?

33?We saw the Nephilim?there (the descendants of Anak?come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers?in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

?

In verses, 27-29 and 31-33, the ten of the spies gave a negative report. In verse 30, Caleb gives a positive report. The ten spies report was filled with fear and doubt. Joshua and Caleb’s report was filled with faith. Had the Israelites listened to the ten spies instead of Joshua and Caleb, they would have never entered their promised land.

?

The devil loves using fear to keep you from your promised land. He wants you to think that your situation is too big, too tough, you’ll never overcome it, and you might as well give up and stay where you are and accept it.

?

God wants you to know that no giant is too big for Him. He will go before you into the land of your giants and he will defeat them.

?

Don’t let fear keep you from your promised land. Choose faith and you will never lose.

?

David and Goliath

?

David had to face his giant which was Goliath.

?

1 Samuel 17:45-50 says:

?

45?David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin,?but I come against you in the name?of the?Lord?Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.?

46?This day the?Lord?will deliver?you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses?of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world?will know that there is a God in Israel.?

47?All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword?or spear that the?Lord?saves;?for the battle?is the?Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

48?As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.?

49?Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

50?So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling?and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

?

David knew by faith that he had the Lord on his side, so he was not afraid. He knew that the size of the giant he was facing was no match for the size of his God. Not only did he face his giant, but he also defeated his giant. You can defeat your giant too because the Lord is on your side.

?

Giant Killers

?

So, what are the tools that you need to defeat the giants in your life?

?

God’s Armor

Ephesians 6:10-20 says:

10?Finally, be strong in the Lord?and in his mighty power.

11?Put on the full armor of God,?so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.?

12?For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,?but against the rulers, against the authorities,?against the powers?of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.?

13?Therefore put on the full armor of God,?so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.?

14?Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,?with the breastplate of righteousness in place,?

15?and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.?

16?In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,?with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.?

17?Take the helmet of salvation?and the sword of the Spirit,?which is the word of God.

18?And pray in the Spirit?on all occasions?with all kinds of prayers and requests.?With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying?for all the Lord’s people.?

19?Pray also for me,?that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly?make known the mystery?of the gospel,?

20?for which I am an ambassador?in chains.?Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Prayer

” Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24 (NIV)

Faith

“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a?mustard?seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20 (NIV)

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” - Mark 11:23 (NIV)

Conclusion

Always keep all of God’s armor on. Don’t ever take any of it off or adjust it.?That way, none of the enemy’s fiery darts will ever be able to get too you.

Pray and believe by faith that what you ask for is yours.

Always remember what it says in Hebrews 12:29 which says, “Our God is a consuming fire.” Throw that giant into God’s consuming fire and watch God burn it up.

When you use these things, there is no giant too big or mountain too tall that will ever be able to beat or overcome you.

You have the victory in Jesus’ name!
