Your Future is in Your Hands
“Begin with end in mind”, the late Stephen Covey said as one of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Applying this habit to yourself during life/career transition will help you visualize your desired future state. When you begin with the end in mind, that vision becomes your life/career goal and from where you stand today to where you need and want to be in the future needs your critical reflection and analysis of the gap between today and your target goal (short term and long term).
Now, after your critical reflection and analysis, build your plan to achieve your goals and identify the milestones you need to successfully attain to close the gap and achieve your destination in life and career. Side note: Attain is a verb that means to accomplish, reach, or achieve something through effort. Yes, to attain your goals takes effort. Ask yourself “Do you want it bad enough to put the effort needed in?”
Now, (if yes) the work begins because unless you put your goals and plans into practice (action), they’ll stay exactly where they are today. When I talk about your practice this is not about practice makes perfect, this is about your focused and disciplined practice makes progress. Your daily dedicated commitment (effort) to your practice makes your goals and plans come alive — become real and tangible.
So, what are you waiting for? Give it your all. What do you have to lose except time (a precious commodity that we never get back) and opportunity that waits just around the corner and beyond?
Remember “if you don’t know where you are going any road will get you there”. In other words, "if you don’t know where you are going don't go it alone, get the help of a proven expert who can help you define your goals and trajectory."
