Are Your Fitness Plans Suited For Your Body Type?

Don’t we all know someone who can eat whatever they want and not gain a pound while you only need to pass by a donut shop to put on weight.

You may have heard it often that every body is unique. Scientifically also, every human being has a different built. This affects not only how and where they gain or lose fat/muscle but also what fitness related habits are more suited for them.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that most people don’t take this into consideration when planning out their workouts. This could mean they struggle with their body goals or take longer to get there. Having a body coach, who has the expertise on this matter definitely helps.

As a body coach, I aim to understand my client’s personality, their strengths, weaknesses and capacities.

Its never one fit all at CWPT, and me and my team literally delve ourselves into our clients lives to make plans for them that they can follow and see results with.

With years of experience, I have developed a keen eye for observing and identifying the areas of concern in a person’s physique and creating plans to address the individual challenges they face.

One key area I look into is the body type a person falls into. While humans rarely fall into one category and mostly are a mix, it is beneficial to know what these body types are.

There are three broad body types into which we all fall to some extent: ectomorph, endomorph and mesomorph.?I have shared more details on each below.

Read On and find out which category you fall in. You will most likely find yourself to be a hybrid – having characteristics of two body type categories. Again, in such cases, the importance of having a body coach is tremendous. With his/her expertise, the coach should be able to accurately identify and construct plans that deliver results.

Lets find out what the three categories are:

  1. Ectomorph: Thin, lean built, long limbs and small muscle bellies. They are the ones we all envy because they can eat the biggest meals for days and not show that weight. However, it is not all rosy here because along with struggling to add weight, they struggle to build muscle mass. Their diet and workout plans need to be designed such that it encourages protein synthesis in body to help grow muscle mass.
  2. Mesomorph: Wide shoulders, narrow waist and round muscle bellies. They have a middle of the range built, having best of both worlds. These people are naturally more capable of being fit and muscular. They find it easy to lose fat, put on muscle and get back in shape. They can work with more balanced plans targeted to maintain muscle mass or to achieve a certain look.
  3. Endomorph: With a wide built, shorter limbs and wider hips, they have a rounded structure. They have or can gain more muscle mass but it comes along with more body fat. Their plans need to focus on low fat high protein diets while the workouts can be a mix of high intensity fat burning and strength training sessions.

It is not that simple to identify which category you fall into and tailor your plans accordingly. However, an expert on the matter and someone who works with body physiques can find it easier to guide you.
