Summer is winding down, but that doesn't mean the fun in Indy has to end! As we bid farewell to the warmest season, why not squeeze in a few more adventures and enjoy every last drop of sunshine? We've put together the ultimate end-of-summer bucket list along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, so grab your shades and hit the Trail!
1. Break a Sweat with Free Outdoor Workouts
Join neighbors and visitors alike for free classes ranging from Paddle Board Yoga on the Canal to Family Flow Yoga and Bike & Bootcamp. Each class offers a chance to soak up some sun, break a sweat, and stay moving as we transition into fall. Plus, working out outdoors? That's just pure summer magic. Most classes run through September, but check out our calendar for details.?
2. Public Art Scavenger Hunt
Indy's art scene is thriving, and the art along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail is just one example! From its inception, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail was planned as a place for public art. Take a leisurely stroll and immerse yourself in our public art installations, including community favorites like Ann Dancing and Chatham Passage. Discover the stories behind the artwork, snap some photos, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds you!
3. Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza
Gather your friends and family and come Downtown for Viernes Cultural , hosted by the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. It's the perfect chance to let loose on the dance floor, learn new steps from Latin Expressions Dance Company , and enjoy a live performance by Son De Esquina. Don’t forget a lawn chair or blanket to sit on when you want to take a break from dancing the night away!?
4. Stroll and Savor with Devour Indy
Summer and patio dining? It's a match made in culinary heaven. Along the Cultural Trail, you'll discover so many of the city’s favorite local restaurants. With Devour Indy taking place through September 3rd, pick your favorite patio and enjoy a specially curated menu at an unbeatable price!

5. Bike to a Concert
Don’t let the end of summer concert season pass you by! Situated as a part of the White River State Park complex and conveniently located in downtown Indianapolis, the TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park resides in a vibrant urban landscape along the Cultural Trail. With a Pacers Bikeshare Station located just steps away from the amphitheater, you can beat traffic and avoid paying to park.?

6. Dog Days of Summer at the Pawp Up Pup Park
Don’t leave your pup at home as Summer comes to a close! The Indianapolis Cultural Trail and Downtown Canal are great places to walk your four-legged best friend. Additionally, the Pawp-Up Pup Park, Indy’s only free, downtown public dog park, is located just steps off the Trail in Lugar Plaza (200 E. Washington Street). The park is open daily from dawn to dusk to well-behaved dogs and their responsible owners until September 10. Follow us on social media to see where the PUP Park pawps-up along the Trail next.
7. Community Connections: Neighborhood Festivals
As summer draws to a close, Indianapolis neighborhoods come alive with vibrant festivals and community gatherings. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail was originally created as a way to connect our Cultural Districts: Massachusetts Avenue, Fountain Square, The Canal & White River State Park, Indiana Avenue, the Wholesale District, and Broad Ripple. If you’re looking for weekend plans, check out what's happening in the areas along the Cultural Trail! These festivals often feature local artisans, food vendors, live performances, and a chance to connect with your community.?
8. Sunset Cruise: Evening Bike Rides
Grab a bike from the nearest Pacers Bikeshare Station and take a leisurely ride as the sun sets. Take the Cultural Trail from Mass Ave to the Canal or over to Fountain Square for amazing skyline views as you enjoy the golden glow of sunset. Make the most of the remaining longer days - but not to worry come fall, the Cultural Trail is well-lit all year around!?
9. Selfie Stroll
Kick off your selfie adventure with a visit to the bridge over the canal on Blackford Street near the Indiana State Museum. This picturesque spot is the perfect backdrop for capturing that quintessential end-of-summer selfie. How many other scenic spots can you find along the Trail?
10. Plan for Fall (and Spring Blooms!)
Although we’re in no hurry for Summer to end, don’t forget that Fall brings its own special charm to Indy!
