Are your employees equipped to ask R U OK?

8.6 Australians die every day by suicide.

That’s more than double the road toll (ABS, 2021).

Beyond the tragic loss of the person, the impact of suicide deaths are felt by up to 135 people, including family members, work colleagues, friends, and first responders (Cerel et al, 2019).

Conversations about mental health and suicide are hard.

But equipping yourself and your team with the knowledge and tools to reach out, start a conversation, and check in with each other can have a significant impact on a colleague’s mental wellbeing.?

With R U OK? Day just around the corner on 8 September 2022, it’s the perfect platform to educate yourself and your team on how to effectively check in on others and prevent little problems becoming more serious.

We’re running workshops over the next few months, specifically to support this important initiative.

In this 1 hour workshop we’ll cover:

  • How to recognise the warning signs that someone may be experiencing distress
  • A framework to support a meaningful conversation
  • Questions to use during an R U OK? conversation
  • What someone's role is and what is not their role in supporting individuals with mental health concerns
  • The barriers to be aware of that may prevent people from reaching out for support

Your team will leave this session with a proven framework and the confidence to support a meaningful conversation with friends, colleagues or people experiencing distress.

Remember, the more you and your team feel comfortable asking R U OK?, the greater the chance someone who is struggling feels comfortable in responding with “actually, no I’m not,” and takes the first step in getting the support they need.
