I'm not quite sure how it is May next week, anyone else feel like this year has absolutely flown by?!
This week has been jam packed, but there were a couple of reflections I wanted to share with you about the Fear of Judgement. I see it come up so often when working with clients, questions like but what will people think of me? What if I get it wrong? Will I look too big or fat in that? Can I pull that off? Will people think 'who do I think I am?' And so many more!
I experienced this for myself recently when I was shortlisted for a TedX audition from 120 people who applied, to 24 who were interviewed. I didn't share with many people about it initially as I didn't want to talk about it too openly, as running round in my head was 'but what if I don't get selected as a speaker?!' Which ultimately comes back to that fear of judgement.
From speaking to one of my friends in my network who is a coach (thank you Debbie Bryan !) I realised I should be celebrating what an incredible achievement it is to be shortlisted, not concerning myself with the outcome! (i'll find out in a couple of weeks!)
I'm sharing this with you, as I think it's so easy to get stuck in your own way and hold yourself back with your style as well. Through concern about what others will think, but we need to remind ourselves that other people are so caught up in their own thoughts and worries that they aren't concerning themselves with our outfits! And as Richard says, if your dreams don't scare you, they're too small!
If you'd like to find out more about how to over come this by working with me 121, book in for a free Style Consultation HERE and we can have a chat about what you're looking for support with...

Things I Enjoyed This Week...
My mum shared with me this fab article in The Guardian about an upcoming auction of Vivienne Westwood's personal wardrobe.?More than 200 lots of fashion, jewellery and accessories worn by the late designer over the decades. One of the things that really stood out for me was "fittingly for someone who cared deeply for the planet, many of them show signs of repair. Some items, said Hume-Sayer, had been “mended and mended and mended”." Something we all need to admire and adopt in our throwaway culture!
I've been really enjoying getting back into my podcasts since my holiday, and one I used to listen to all the time, but had forgotten about, is Jay Shetty's podcast, On Purpose. One of my favourites was Benny Blanco: 3 Ways to Stop Caring About Failure & Get Out of Your Own Way. Benny's drive and determination was so inspiring, and his attitude to life, that he is happy to fail and try new things. He's made it a habit to push himself out of his comfort zone. I also loved his curiosity and love of people and creatives, and bringing loved ones together over food. Let me know if you give it a listen!
Preloved Fashion Show
SO EXCITED to announce our Preloved Fashion Show. A SS24 Trend Event with a difference, supporting St Albans Sustainability Festival! At this in person fashion show at The Alban Arena in St Albans, we will showcase the key trends for the SS24 season, but all sourced preloved partnering with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care . We will be focusing on those trends with longevity in your wardrobe (plus some showstoppers!). Buy your ticket HERE.
We'll also showcase key colours for the season to enable you to update & refresh your wardrobe. We'll be showcasing all second hand items in the show, to show how you can source these items from Rennie Grove Peace Charity Shops and eBay store. To reduce your impact on the planet (and your bank account!) whilst keeping your style relevant to the current trends. We'll style these into outfits to help you understand how to translate the trends and recreate them in your own wardrobe.
You'll also get a chance to shop the models outfits and Alex's carefully curated trend edit, after the catwalk presentation. The full amount from the sales will be donated to the charity shops they have been sourced from, along with a donation from your ticket going to Sustainable St Albans and the important work they are doing to champion a better world and local community.
I'll also be taking any style questions you might have on the night. So take the opportunity to get some expert advice! You'll leave feeling really inspired!
This event is part of SustFest Expo. SustFest Expo will be in St Albans at the Alban Arena from 7th – 9th June 2024 and will include two full days of talks, workshops, stalls and activities all centred around making sustainable changes.?
