Is Your Dream Too Big?
Nancy Barker-Belda
Helping women in midlife discover underutilized, forgotten or unused strengths, talents, and skills to live the life of their dreams with purpose, passion and clarity.
The year was 2010. The place, was Jack Canfield's "Breakthrough to Success" Workshop. The assignments: create a bucket list AND define your life purpose.
Are you kidding?
I had never crafted a life purpose statement OR a bucket list.
After the shock of it all, I put my thinking cap on and tackled the assignment.
It took the entire week to complete these assignments.
But once finished, I packed my "stuff" and got outa "dodge".
Back in Chicago I wondered HOW I would be able to sing The National Anthem in Wrigley Field.
More importantly, was I dreaming too big?
After networking some, I found someone to record my CD for me.
I packaged the CD and sent it to the CUBS organization.....
Two weeks later, I received a "no thank you" letter AND a returned CD.
Not to be deterred, I went through the same antics for the next three years.
Then, in 2013, something changed.
I was asked to sing the anthem in the "Captain Morgan Bar" NOT on the field.
Utter disappointment, but I complied.
Guess what?
The vice president of entertainment happened to come into the bar.
I was introduced to him and it was THEN that he extended an invitation for me to sing The National Anthem ON THE FIELD, on Aug.13, 2013!!!
My entire family - 7 sisters and 1 brother (and their spouses) were in attendance.
It was an evening I will NEVER forget.
So, the question still remains...."Is your dream too big?"
NEVER!!! "You're not given a wish without the power to make it come true."
