Your Data is Your Data

Compass Family, 

Many agents have said their database is the most valuable thing they own, even more than their home. Given that, I believe we have the moral and business responsibility to protect the security and integrity of your data, particularly because many of you are organizing your contacts in the Compass CRM. 

Let me be very direct here — your data is your data. Compass has zero intention to take your data. We generate revenue when our agents help their clients buy, sell, and rent properties. Access to your clients’ data does not help us help you buy, sell, and rent more homes. Your client data is only valuable to you.

To help address this concern —  we launched The Compass Data Pledge in 2018, and I'm recommitting to the pledge with the attached for 2020. It says:

 “We believe your data is your own and we will always allow you to take your client database and emails with you” and “We will never contact your clients without your explicit permission.”

The Compass Data Pledge (which I have signed and attached here) will be included in every policy manual in all of our regions as I believe it is that important. I also encourage any of you who have concerns to not hesitate to reach out to me directly. I take this responsibility very seriously and will personally continue to make sure we are setting the standard for data privacy in our industry.

What about using agent contacts for retargeting with display ads and paid social?
