- SEC investigates Coinbase over securities. The SEC has stepped up scrutiny of the issue since Coinbase began ramping up the number of tokens on its platform, says Bloomberg, citing several sources. The investigation predates an insider trading tipping case involving a former Coinbase product manager which saw charges brought last week. Link here.

- PayMongo expands BNPL services with Atome partnership. Online payment processing platform Paymongo taps Atome Philippines to expand its reach of Buy Now Pay Later services. Link here.
- Indebted has raised $22.5 million in a round that has doubled the company’s valuation to $200 million. But the round, led once again Perennial Value Management, which came on board 12 months ago to lead a $25m Series B last July, comes as the business also sheds 17% of its staff, with the loss of 40 jobs. - Bunch raises €7.3m to build ‘the operating system’ for private market investors. A number of angel investors including the founders of European fintechs like Adyen, Klarna, Juni, and Moonfare also joined the round. Link here.
- GloriFi plans a U.S. listing with $1.7 B SPAC deal. GloriFi, whose equity holders will roll forward 100% of their existing shares, will receive nearly $279 million in cash proceeds. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023. Link here.
- The South East Asian market has been on the radar of many Indian fintechs as they enter a stage of maturity and gear up for international rollouts. While digital payments (mostly retail PoS) and BNPL (buy now, pay later) are the most popular segments, players in debt collections and supply chain finance are also making inroads. Link here.?
- Solarisbank has changed its name to ‘Solaris’. The company noted that the rebrand represents its evolution. Amid the latest global expansion activities, the fintech platform has been able to grow its team to over 750 employees. Link here.
- Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad launches new banking app, Be U. The banking app aims to broaden financial inclusion in Malaysia by allowing users to bank online without the need to visit branches. It is aimed at the country’s digital-first younger generation and its UI is designed to “help users quickly understand and manage their finances”. Link here.
- Plaid launches VRP to save UK businesses up to £1.5bn. After discovering that UK businesses could be saving £1.5bn annually in payment processing fees, Plaid is launching its own Variable Recurring Payments (VRP). The open banking network is releasing the product to help customers in the UK with online payments and to enable recurring transfers between users’ own accounts with just one authorization.
