Meet Marcus Donald, also known as Mr. Deacon, a 2020 graduate of Ohio Media School, Marcus enrolled to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for a career in radio and TV. His time at school proved to be invaluable, as he sharpened his multimedia skills and incorporated the advertising concepts into his YouTube sports channel.
Marcus, a former USMC and decorated US Army Veteran serving in Iraq as a Combat Engineer, is a Credentialing Specialist for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the MSO’s office at the LOUIS STOKES CLEVELAND VA MEDICAL CENTER. In addition to his professional commitments, Marcus is a part-time digital content creator on YouTube and the CEO of TMDE SPORTS
Marcus is also the Co-Chairman of the Drake Community Youth Center in Cleveland Heights, and a Co-Creator of the highly successful 2nd Annual Brown Legends Alumni Youth Football Camp.
Leveraging the skills he learned at Ohio Media School, Marcus has established a thriving YouTube sports channel. He is incorporating multimedia and creative concepts to attract advertisers and engage his audience.
Dedicated to his own success, Marcus also values collaboration and community engagement. He actively collaborates with former students, maintains connections with staff, teachers, and alumni. Additionally, he has a network of community partners who support his involvement in youth sporting events and activities, including former Cleveland Browns players.
As a graduate, Marcus has set clear career goals. He aspires to become the next Pat McAfee in terms of YouTube and other social media channels. He aims to control his own content and make a significant impact in the digital world.
When asked to share his advice with current students, Marcus emphasizes the importance of taking their education seriously. Marcus urges students to stay focused and remember their initial motivation for enrolling. In the face of challenges, he emphasizes the need to persevere and not give in to discouragement.

From Student to Trailblazer: Jamey Kistner Revolutionizes Media and Cybersecurity
We're proud to introduce Jamey Kistner, a recent graduate from Ohio Media School’s Columbus campus and founder of NextGen LiveStreams (doing business as OSINTelligence LLC).
Jamey chose Ohio Media School for its hands-on approach to media production and its commitment to providing real-world industry experience. He was looking for a program that blended technical expertise, creative storytelling, and professional networking—and Ohio Media School was his choice.
With the skills gained during his time at Ohio Media School, Jamey has built a state-of-the-art media production studio, NextGen LiveStreams, which specializes in live streaming, podcasting, and digital content strategy. From video production and virtual set design to AI-enhanced content workflows, Jamey is revolutionizing digital storytelling and creating high-impact media solutions.
Jamey’s training in media production, marketing, and brand development has also fueled his work in the cybersecurity and OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) sectors, where he creates engaging multimedia content that simplifies complex security topics for businesses and professionals.
Collaboration plays a vital role in Jamey’s journey. He actively partners with fellow Ohio Media School alumni, content creators, and industry professionals to produce live-streamed events, podcasts, and AI-driven content strategies. His efforts have expanded his network and provided opportunities for others in the media space. His work with cybersecurity experts, investigative journalists, and OSINT researchers is creating educational and awareness-driven media, paving the way for community-driven initiatives in the industry.

Meet Joe Massa, a seasoned pro in both the broadcasting and podcasting industries. A dynamic 2006 graduate of Colorado Media School, Joe is the CEO and Audio Production Specialist at his own company, Podtopia Network, while also contributing his expertise at Crawford Media Group.
Joe’s journey began with his passion for broadcasting, which led him to enroll at Colorado Media School. With 20+ years in the industry, Joe has worked across every platform: AM, FM, online radio, satellite, and podcasts. He’s been a promotions director, music director, program director, on-air talent, and so much more. Beyond his radio work, Joe has narrated several books, voiced thousands of commercials, and honed his skills in audio editing. Today, he’s proud to own and operate his own podcast network.
Joe’s career advice to current students in media: “Enjoy the ride, stay up to date on the latest tools, and don’t be afraid to say ‘yes’ to scary new opportunities!”
In addition to his extensive broadcasting experience, Joe has worked as a podcast publicist for an international PR firm, connecting hosts with top-tier guests and helping to grow shows. Meet Leah Jackson, a recent graduate of Ohio Media School who is turning her passion into a thriving business as an Event Host, and has also launched AfternoonSwoon Podcast LLC, where she shares entertainment and lifestyle stories from northeast Ohio.
As an Event Host and Manager showcasing regional talent, Leah is on a mission to build a successful business while continuing to learn and grow. Her advice to current media students is to stay consistent, utilize resources, and maintain a positive attitude.
Described as a Jill of all trades, Leah is driven by curiosity. Proudly nominated as a finalist in the Entrepreneurs of Impact competition, she's dedicated to growing her business and making an impact.

Introducing Matthew Rash, a recent graduate of Illinois Media School, Chicago Campus, who is already making an impact in the broadcasting industry as a Board Engineer at Midway Broadcasting Corp. WVON 1690 AM! ???Matthew chose to enroll at Illinois Media School because he knew it was the best pathway to follow his passion. With its hands-on training and strong focus on skill development, Illinois Media School provided the perfect environment for Matthew to grow.
At the start of the school year, Matthew had a general idea of his career direction but was unsure of the exact path. He kept an open mind and embraced the opportunity to try new things, which ultimately led him to success. Today, as a Board Operator, he is putting his classroom skills into action – from behind-the-scenes camera work to production and mastering tools like the Adobe Suite. These skills have allowed him to hit the ground running and quickly adapt to his role at WVON.
Matthew’s ultimate goal? To cover and report on basketball. He’s already taking every opportunity to tell stories, even serving as a social media representative for the Friday Night Sports Show at WVON. With his determination and hard work, he’s well on his way to becoming a sports reporter, beat writer, and journalist. ?? Matthew’s Advice for Current Students: Take charge of your education.
