Welcome to Your Daily Bread for June 16-22, 2024, by Rev. Apelu Poe, Ph.D!

Key Torah Code for this Fourth Week of the Personal Witness Season:

“Devarim” (Words): Deuteronomy 1:1-3:22

Basic Principle of Our Judaic-Christian Faith:

What last words would you say to your loved ones when you’ve come to the end of your faith journey on this earth?

“It was not this terrorist attack that shook me. It was what the Bible code predicted was yet to come.” These are the words of a Wall Street investigative reporter, Michael Drosnin who has travelled the world meeting with world leaders to brief them on the ancient prophecies the Bible code reveals. He admitted, “What I saw happen with my own eyes on September 11, 2001, that was encoded in the Bible 3000 years ago.”The Bible Code: Count Down. I’ll get to the point in a minute.

But, first, let me say Talofa, Welcome, and Shabbat Shalom to you, my friends in the name of “Yeshua HaMashiach” Jesus the Messiah! And through the power of God’s Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). As they say in Samoan, Malo le soifua manuia! Faafetai fo’i le fai tatalo! Congratulations on your good health! Thanks also for the prayers. May our God always grant us his lovingkindness!

Getting back to the point. If you have followed God’s calendar, which dictates and foretells the events of our lives to which the above quote refers, you will know that from June 16-22, we will enter the fourth week of the Personal Witness Season.

What is a Personal Witness season? Well, just as the word itself suggests, Personal Witness season is a time when God has called us to acknowledge what we can do when we’re empowered by the anointing of God’s Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “For the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour,” (Isaiah 61:1-2).

This is why Jesus did not forget to remind his disciples and us, “But you shall receive power when the Spirit of God has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,” (Acts 1:8).

Before we take a look at the Torah portion for this first week of the Personal Witness season, let me also say “thank you” to all of you, my regular readers. You’re a fantastic community of believers made up of Jews, Christians, Muslims, as well as people of other faiths. You are amazing because you take the time to access my Torah-Bible Codes teaching on Facebook and LinkedIn which has now become a top-performing weekly post on social media.

It is, indeed, a great inspiration for me to see that so many of you around the world have been following my teaching on social media from week to week. I call my Torah gift for you this fourth week of the Personal Witness Season “Your Daily Bread for June 16-22, 2024.”

Why am I saying this? Well, for those of you who have been following my teaching, I’m saying this because, as you might have noticed, I have been using this same gift that God has given me for the past 40 years to help guide the destiny of those whose spiritual welfare God has entrusted to me. And now that I have retired from the ordained ministry in July 2021, I want you to have free access to it.

My pastoral desire is simply this: For you to be the person God has created you to be. My prayer, then, is that you would be able to live according to God’s time so that you may discern God’s Divine path for your life and how it is that God wants you to live to best receive his blessing and shine his holy light.

Your Benefits from My Torah Gift I Can Give You This Week

So what exactly can you expect from the Torah gift I’m giving you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season? Well, the first and foremost is self-discovery.

Why self-discovery at such a time of unprecedented circumstances for all of us, a time rife with global conflicts and spiritual disconnect? Because, as we’ve been saying all this time, life transformation will never happen without self-discovery.

You see, it all comes down to the flow of information from the universe (God), the dynamic of your brain's plank field, and the feedforward and feedback process that is involved in it.

The physics behind all this is not hard to understand. You’re receiving the information from the universe (God), and you are feeding that information forward into your brain’s plank field through a process scientists call quantum oscillation of all your protons, neutrons, and electrons.

Remember, everything that you see in God’s universe (metaphysics), from people to planets, from planets to stars, from stars to galaxies…etc. etc. is composed of matter. Matter may be defined as any substance that has mass and occupies space. At their quantum or sib-atomic level are these 3 sub-atomic particles: protons (positive electrically charged particles, electrons (negative electrically charged particles, and neutrons which help stabilize the flow of these metaphysical entities in space and time.

The same thing is true with us, human beings. We are each composed of matter which consists of numerous cells. Each one of these cells at its quantum or sub-atomic level is made up of hundreds of protons, neutrons, and electrons. So you are receiving the information from the universe (God), and you forward it into your brain’s plank field through this process called quantum oscillation of all your protons, neutrons, and electrons. Your brain plank field will interpret it and will feed it back to you in such a way that will enable you to say, Aha, I now see it with my naked eyes. Now I know. That’s what self-discovery simply is.

Here’s the point. Until we are made aware of who we are: men-God, or women-God, (read Genesis 4), and what we need to do to help make this world a better place for all of us, we will never be able to get out of this geo-political, socio-economic turmoil that we now find ourselves in, no matter where we are in the world today.

So the Torah gift I’m giving you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season will help you become aware of the fact that when the Spirit of God comes upon us, and when it ignites that Divine spark of God in each of us, then it’ll unite us into one body, serving One God, One Lord, and One faith.

Perhaps it is for this reason that on Tuesday, June 11, Kyiv declared its hope that Russia would attend the second Ukraine peace summit so that they would receive an internationally agreed roadmap towards ending the conflict.

Moscow said it had no interest in joining this weekend's meeting and so was not invited by hosts Switzerland, while Ukraine wants to get some concrete outcomes from the meeting to take forward to a second summit.

Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, said the "bad experience" of previous negotiation formats involving Moscow, before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, meant that the end to the war needed to be built on a broad platform of support from the outset and be rooted in international law.

Listen again to Yermak’s words via a video link from Berlin, "For the second summit, we will be working with all colleagues, with all countries who will be interested to be involved."

"We are planning to prepare together the joint plan which will be supported by all these responsible countries. And we're looking for the possibility, in the second summit, to invite a representative of Russia, and together present this joint plan.."

A perspective backed by "100 or more countries" drawn from every continent, rather than just Ukraine's position, "will be a real plan which will be very difficult to dispute, a real road map how to stop this war and how to settle the crisis".

More than 160 countries and international organisations were invited by Switzerland to the two-day summit at the Burgenstock resort complex, with more than 90 confirmations received so far.

Yermak said that if the war in Ukraine could be ended, it would show that "world leaders are able, together, to settle such a serious problem", which could lay a template for resolving future conflicts.

Why am I sharing this with you on this fourth week of the Personal Witness season? Because it highlights the importance of self-discovery.

It’s no wonder, why the apostle Paul challenged us, saying,

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

The second benefit that my Torah gift will give you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season is a successful achiever. It’ll help you discover the formula to build a transformational ministry or service while being fully aligned and creating a better world.

What precisely do we mean by successful achiever? Being a successful achiever means being able to make a greater impact from a place of effective leadership.

Here’s the thing. When we know, trust, and believe we are Christ's beloved child, guided by the Spirit of God, we will live more freely in his grace at healthier levels.

Unfortunately, when we believe we are on our own, we move down the levels of personal development into self-defeating behaviour.

Of course, maintaining a stronger or healthy mindset can be challenging at times, but through practice and encouragement, it becomes a skill that can shape and transform your life.

So the Torah gift I’m giving you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season will help you harness and transform your self-defeating behavior into life-enhancing personal empowerment.

Perhaps it is for this reason that on Tuesday, June 11, Mexican president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum made a public statement that investors had nothing to fear from proposed judicial reforms that have rattled confidence in Latin America's second-largest economy.

"National and foreign investors have nothing to worry about," Sheinbaum said at a news conference after receiving a visiting US delegation that included Homeland Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall.

"Their investments are safe in Mexico, within the framework, obviously, of our laws," said Sheinbaum, who was elected Mexico's first woman president by a landslide on June 2.

"So they have no reason to be concerned about a reform in the judiciary," she said, adding that the proposed changes would create a "better justice system."

Mexico's stock market and currency fell sharply last week on fears that a sizeable majority in Congress would enable Sheinbaum's left-wing ruling party to push through constitutional changes potentially damaging to the business and economy.

One of the proposed reforms which requires the approval of two-thirds of Congress -- is for judges to be chosen by popular vote.

The former Mexico City mayor, who won nearly 60 percent of votes, will replace her close ally and mentor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador as president on October 1.

Why am I bringing this to your attention in this fourth week of the Personal Witness season? Because it emphasises the importance of a successful achiever.

It is no wonder why the author of the Book of Hebrews put it this way, “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near”(Hebrews 10:23-25).

The third benefit that my Torah gift will give you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season is good and responsible leadership. It’ll help you develop good and responsible leadership knowing that God did not put you in a leadership and management position for no reason.

Why is this important for us Jews, Christians, Muslims, and people of other faiths at this critically important time in history, a time rife with global conflicts, and spiritual disconnect?

Because good and responsible leadership matters. How we lead affects our whole worldview.

So the Torah gift I’m giving you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season will help you become aware of the fact that at no time in the history of God’s people has there been a greater demand or a desperate need for a good and responsible leadership than today.

Perhaps it is for this reason that on Wednesday, June 12, the leaders of the so-called G-7 issued a call on China to stop helping Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Kyiv’s allies are accusing Beijing of providing Russia with technologies and parts either found in weapons or necessary to build them aiding Moscow’s efforts to get around wave after wave of G-7 trade restrictions on many of those goods. Banned materials often get to Russia through third countries such as China and Turkey or networks of intermediaries.

“China’s ongoing support for Russia’s defence industrial base has significant and broad-based security implications,” says the draft statement, which could still change before it’s agreed by leaders at a summit in Italy due to start Thursday.

A spokesperson with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the draft to say that China did not create the Ukraine crisis nor is it party to the conflict.

“G-7 should take pragmatic responsibility to promote the easing of the situation and create conditions to solve the political crisis, rather than making groundless accusations towards a non-party to the conflict,” the spokesperson said in a statement to Bloomberg.

The G-7 will also call on Beijing to push Russia to withdraw from Ukraine and support a just peace.

The G-7 will affirm their ongoing efforts to reduce critical dependencies on China while reiterating that they are not intent on decoupling.

Why am I sharing this with you on this fourth week of the Personal Witness season? Because it highlights the importance of good and responsible leadership in a time of geo-political, and social-economic turmoil..

It is no wonder why the apostle Paul, urged us, saying, "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."(Colossians 3:12-13).

The fourth benefit that my Torah gift will give you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season is a high level of motivation. It’ll help you develop a high level of motivation knowing that our God is ever able and willing to help us if and only if we put our complete trust in His hand.

Why is this important for us Jews, Christians, Muslims, and people of other faiths at this critically important time in history, a time characterised by global geo-political and social turmoil?

Because the world is no longer the same. Unless we stay motivated to secure the security of others, we cannot guarantee our security ourselves. For example, when you are creative and quick to solve an issue that affects others with a brilliant idea that will not happen unless you stay motivated for higher goals.

On the other hand, when you become impatient, hasty in making choices, or interrupt others because you lose interest in the welfare of others, all kinds of problems ensue.

Perhaps it is for this reason that on Wednesday, June 12, the U.S. and Ukraine were motivated to enter into a long-term security agreement at G-7.

In other words, the US and Ukraine signed a bilateral security pact on the sidelines of the G7 in Italy on the above date in a deal that lays out a path for the US’ long-term security relationship with Kyiv.

The agreement follows months of negotiations between the US and Ukraine and is expected to commit the US for 10 years to continued training of Ukraine’s armed forces, more cooperation in the production of weapons and military equipment, the continued provision of military assistance and greater intelligence sharing.

The US-Ukraine agreement does not make a specific monetary pledge to support Ukraine’s defence. An annexe in the agreement will lay out how the Biden administration plans to work with Congress on the implementation of the security commitments, specifically the long-term funding that will be needed to support Ukraine’s defence.

National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said on Tuesday that the US’s commitment to Ukraine “will continue to be right up front and clear” at the G7 and that the US “will take bold steps to show Mr. Putin that time is not on his side and that he cannot outlast us, as we support Ukraine to fight for freedom.”

The pledge the US and Ukraine are expected to sign will be similar to the 14 other bilateral agreements Ukraine has already reached with other allies, including the UK, France and Germany. The US-Ukraine agreement will be the 15th such deal signed, and 17 other countries have committed to negotiating similar bilateral security pacts with Ukraine.

The agreement comes as the US-Ukrainian relationship has begun to recover after faltering late last year and into this year amid a congressional fight over additional US funding for Ukraine – something Biden personally apologized to Zelensky for during a meeting in Paris last week.

Biden also recently agreed to allow Ukraine to use US-provided weapons to strike into Russia directly, a major shift that Ukraine had been asking for months as Russia pummeled Kharkiv with missiles from just across the border.

Why am I sharing this with you on this fourth week of the Personal Witness season? Because it highlights the importance of staying motivated for the good of all.

It is no wonder why the prophet Isaiah challenged us, saying, “Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance, with divine retribution He will come to save you” (Osaiah 35:3-4).

The fifth benefit that my Torah gift will give you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season is a deeper sense of gratitude and heartfelt appreciation. It’ll help you develop a deeper sense of gratitude and heartfelt appreciation knowing that our God is great and faithful.

Why is this important for us Jews, Christians, Muslims, and people of other faiths at this morally and spiritually challenging time in human history, a time rife with global conflicts, and spiritual disconnect?

Because our attitude towards life matters. How we react to the things that affect us daily can change our whole worldview.

For example, if we continue to complain and belittle others, guess what we will get? More crabs to complain about. But if we change our attitude, and start thanking and appreciating what other people are doing for us, then the universe (God) will give us more good things to be thankful for.

So the Torah gift I’m giving you this fourth week of the Personal Witness season will help you become aware of the fact that if Jesus did not let himself be wounded on that cross because of our sins, there would never have been any Jewish temple, or any Christian church, or any Muslin synagogue…etc. etc. To put it another way, if Jesus did not let His precious blood be shed on that cross, there would be no you or me. Period. It is as simple as that.

Perhaps it is this deeper sense of gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for what God had done for us that on Wednesday, June 12, an off-duty firefighter from Franklin, Tennessee here in the U.S. courageously saved one man’s life at Marshall County graduation.

A senior citizen is still alive thanks to an off-duty Franklin firefighter who happened to be attending a Marshall County high school graduation ceremony last month.

Cornersville High School’s graduation ceremony was well underway when a man in the back of the room suddenly collapsed on the hard gym floor.

According to Jayce Pickle, a firefighter and advanced emergency medical technician with the Franklin Fire Department, the senior citizen was in full cardiac arrest.

The video shows the man collapsing, and within 10 seconds, a spectator in a pink shirt rose out of the stands and ran to the man in distress. That man in the pink shirt was Pickle, a husband and father of three who was in the crowd to see his two nieces graduate.

“I heard him hit the ground before I actually saw it and I just jumped up and did what I thought I was supposed to do,” Pickle recalled. “When I got to him, I felt for a pulse, I didn’t feel one, he wasn’t breathing, I just started CPR.”

While Pickle and others worked to revive the senior citizen, a hush came over the auditorium and the graduation paused. After a few minutes, it became obvious the man was alive.

“The next thing you know, he’s coming back around, talking to us,” Pickle said.

The senior citizen was rushed to a waiting ambulance, but before the graduation continued, the crowd cheered to thank all of the first responders.

Why am I sharing this with you on this fourth week of the Personal Witness season? Because it highlights the importance of giving thanks.

It is no wonder why the apostle Paul reminded us, saying, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done” (Phillippians 4:6).

The Historical Proof that Supports our Need for Your Daily Bread that Sustains Us Spiritually

Does it surprise you, then, that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, did not forget to remind us about these things? That is why last week you heard Jesus speaking to us, saying, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you that everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses [Torah] and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled…” (Luke 24:44).

Jesus, then, did something which I thought was quite remarkable and quite extraordinary. He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:45-49).

Overview Summary of this Week’s Torah Portion

With this in mind, let us now look at the Torah portion for this fourth week of the Personal Witness season, Deuteronomy 1:1-3:22, to see the answer to our million-dollar question: What’s in it for me (WIIFM)?

Remember our Lord’s Prayer where you hear Jesus asking Father God, “Our Father who art in heaven…Give us this day our daily bread.” That means every week, God gives us our daily bread, our weekly Torah portion that sustains us spiritually.

So, in the Hebrew language (God’s sacred tongue) from which our English Bible translation was taken, the Torah portion for this fourth week of the Personal Witness season is called, “Devarim” translated as “Words,” see Deuteronomy 1:1.

To understand this, one has to, first, identify the double references in the text. On a simple linguistic level intended primarily for the Jewish audience, the reading focuses on Moses’ farewell words that he spoke thirty-seven days before his death. Thus, in the opening part of the reading, we hear Moses delivering his farewell words to the children of Israelites while they were on the eastern bank of the Jordan River, on the verge of entering the land of Canaan.

In the central part of the reading, Moses begins his repetition of the Torah to the assembled Israelites, reviewing the events that occurred and the laws that were given in the course of their forty-year journey from Egypt to Sinai to the Promised Land. Here Moses rebuks the people for their failings and iniquities and enjoins them to keep the Torah and observe its commandments in the land that God is giving them as an eternal heritage, into which they shall cross after his death.

Moses also recalls his appointment of judges and magistrates to ease his burden of meting out justice to the people and teaching them the word of God; the journey from Sinai through the great and fearsome desert; the sending of the spies and the people’s subsequent spurning of the Promised Land, so that God decreed that the entire generation of the Exodus would die out in the desert.

The reading ends with Moses’ message to his successor, Joshua, who will take the people into the Land and lead them in the battles for its conquest: “Fear them not, for the Lord your God, He shall fight for you.”

Indeed, on a profound theological level, this week’s Torah portion, “words” has an important message to us, the Church, and the Body of Christ.

This becomes increasingly clear when the portion is interpreted in the context of this fourth week of the Personal Witness season. And that is, our God is great and awesome because our God is faithful and truthful in carrying out his promise made to our ancestors in the past. “Behold, the Lord your God has given you the land before you; go in and take possession of the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give to them and their descendants after them.”

What do we need to do at this critically important moment in our faith journey? Listen, again, to God’s message for us this week: “Go up, and take possession [of the land] …do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 1:21).

Why the call to have no fear? Because we are God’s chosen servants whom he upholds. How do we know that? Listen, again, to God’s own words in which he reminds us, “Behold, my servant whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights. I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations” (Isaiah 42:1).

Perhaps, this is why David acknowledged the faithfulness of God, “Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God” (Psalm 90:1-2). That is why Jesus said, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me” (John 14:1).
