Welcome back!

This month we're talking all things Patterns Day, International Women's Day, 2024 design trends, app addiction and much more.?

Let's jump in...

Inspiring inclusion at Patterns Day...

12 women stood on stage smiling for a photograph, taken at a Patterns Day event held at the Duke of York's Picturehouse in Brighton facilitated by Clearleft.

It was Patterns Day last week, our one-day event for designers and developers focused on design systems, pattern libraries, style guides and components.?

It was also International Women's Day. With 75% of our speaker lineup?at Patterns Day being women, we asked Geri Reid to curate a link in this month's newsletter inspired by, well, a woman who inspires her. Here's what she had to say...?

"I’m inspired by the work of Michelle Chin who is a Design Advocate at zeroheight, speaker and podcaster. Michelle gave a talk at Converge UK 2023 called Decolonizing Your Design System, which really resonated with me. It’s about the lack of diversity in systems teams and ways to challenge our biases and dismantle the barriers perpetuating exclusion."

Watch Michelle’s talk on YouTube and get the sources on Medium.
