YOUR CONTENT STINKS: Why Most Why Most People’s Content Is Ineffective and Irrelevant And How To Fix It - FAST!

Have you noticed how social media content is starting to feel...the same? Like one giant déjà vu of recycled hooks, predictable captions, and overused hashtags? It's no surprise—the online marketing space has become a never-ending loop of copycat content.

I’ll admit, I was guilty of this too once. But let me tell you a story that changed everything for me. You're not going to believe this!

A few years ago, I forked out over $2,000 for a high-ticket coaching program, expecting to unlock next-level strategies that would take my digital business to the moon. Instead, I was taught to find big-name creators and copy their content verbatim. What?!? I paid two grand to be told to go copy people on social media?!?

Literally copy it. Same video structure, same hook, same hashtags, just personalize it to fit my story. I sat there thinking, "Is this for real?! This is your revolutionary strategy?!" Spoiler alert: it was not the secret to success I had hoped for.

Fast forward to now, and I’ve found a more ethical, wildly effective way to spark endless content ideas—and it doesn’t involve plagiarism or becoming a carbon copy of someone else’s brand.

Buckle up and take notes, because you're not going to want to forget this!

The Problem With Today's Marketing

There is a major problem I see with today's marketing on social media. I'm primarily talking about Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

People are posting snooze-worthy content, nothing is original, and just about every post wants you to buy something.

When I scroll through my feed and look at the content of other marketers I follow in my niche and similar, it all looks the same honestly: boring side hustle videos that provide ZERO value, copy cat videos that serve no purpose other than to jump on the current trend, and self-focused marketing messages that don't give the consumer any reason to understand what's in it for them.

Content creators are over saturating the feed with scatterbrained, unfocused content that doesn’t speak to their audience’s needs solve any of their problems, or inspire them to what's possible.

Here's why this happens:

  1. You Need To Know Your Audience: If you don’t understand exactly who you’re talking to, you’ll miss the mark every time.
  2. What Are Their Top 3 Struggles: I don't like pain marketing. I'd rather inspire people to what's possible than to poke at their pain, but you do need to know what’s keeping them up at night. What solutions are they desperate for? When you know these, you can craft content that makes them feel seen.
  3. Stay Within the Big 3: Every piece of content you create (outside of entertainment/engagement posts) should align with solving one of those top 3 struggles. This keeps your messaging focused and ensures that your audience knows exactly how you can help.

If your content doesn’t fall under the umbrella of their Big 3, it’s probably going to feel irrelevant to your followers.

Why Social Media Feels Stale (And How to Change the Game)

There’s a reason why your feed feels like an echo chamber—too many people are taking shortcuts, chasing virality, and copying “proven” trends without adding their own voice or value. That’s why it’s time to get intentional. Great content isn’t about trends; it’s about transformation. When you understand your audience’s core desires, frustrations, and dreams, you can:

  • Create content that make them say “Wow, it’s like she’s in my head!”
  • Post Stories that lead to DMs saying “I need this in my life.”
  • Publish blogs that build authority, rank on Google, and drive organic leads.

Now, let's talk a little more about how to find ideas for content that will actually STOP the scroll!

The Endless Pool Of Free Content Inspiration

If the idea of never having to come up with another idea for a social post sounds intriguing to you, you're in the right place. I 've been at this for a while now (online business), and long enough to know that there are some days when I feel 100% uninspired.

Maybe I'm stressed or under-slept. Maybe I'm overwhelmed with the demands of balancing motherhood and owning a business.

I don't know if you relate, but it moments like that I seem to go into survival mode, and the creative part of my brain just shuts down.

I couldn't think of a good idea if my life depended on it.

So where can we go, besides to AI, when we hit a wall with our content creation?

This is actually BETTER than ChatGPT!

Drum roll please....

YOUR COMPETITORS EMAIL LIST!

You need to know your competitors. And you need to literally stalk them online. Look at EVERYTHING they do. And when they post about a free guide or training, opt in so you can get on their email list. Especially the really well known and successful creators.

You'll likely start getting an email from them a few times a week. Become a student and use critical thinking to analyze their emails. Pay attention to the tone, and how often they use a CTA.

That’s right—I’m telling you to opt-in to your competitors' free lead magnets. Sign up for their webinars, grab their freebies, and read their emails religiously. But before you freak out—no, I’m NOT saying to copy them. You're simply doing this to stay on top of what's working now in the industry. Things change quickly in the digital space, and if you close your eyes to what's happening around you, you'll become completely out of the loop, and irrelevant to your audience.

Here’s why it works:

  • Original Ideas, Sparked: Your competitors' emails give you insight into what’s working in your niche right now—what their audience resonates with, how they frame their offers, and what they don’t talk about. This intel is like having a front-row seat to a brainstorming session.
  • Content, But Make It Yours: One email can fuel dozens of content ideas across multiple platforms. For example, an email about “3 mistakes to avoid” can inspire a blog post, a mini-training on Instagram, or even an engaging poll in your Facebook group.
  • Gap Spotting: Once you know what your competitors are doing, it becomes easier to find the gaps in their content and position yourself as the one who actually solves the pain points they’re skimming over.

And here's the thing - most of the super established entrepreneurs don't even write their own emails. They hire copywriters who charge up to thousands of dollars just to write a single email, and it gets delivered right to your inbox! (And you basically get to ride that wave and take advantage of their efforts!)

Then all you have to do is pull something from the email that you think would be most relevant to your audience and create your content around it. BOOM! You've got your content done for the day. Most emails are long enough these days to get you a few days worth of content ideas.

Now, what I am NOT saying is to take someone else's work and copy it. I'm telling you to see what subjects the other successful creators are writing on and use that as inspiration to fuel the content you create and post online.
