Your Complete Snapchat Playbook

Every time you turn around, there's another app, another website, another tool you're supposed to be learning.
Don't we darn kids just drive you crazy?
Now on top of everything else, it turns out Snapchat(???) is turning into a legitimate business tool.
The age of the selfie is in full bloom.
Not to worry, though. I've been headfirst in Snapchat for the past year, and I've created a guide to cut the learning curve and get you rolling ASAP.
The complete Slideshare deck is at the bottom of this post, but let me get you started with 3 easy tips which have been most effective for me:
1. Go Caption Crazy
Whenever I’m in a public area, I look around at all the advertisements. If a model is making a particularly funny face, I snap it and caption it.
Bored at the mall? TIME TO SNAP!
Have some funny art in your office? TIME TO SNAP!
At a public event? TIME TO SNAP!
Funny captions have been around quite some time. You’re just bringing them to a new medium.
Consider doing a series. I had a lot of feedback on this group of snaps featuring “mall emojis.”
Which leads me to...
2. Emojis In Real Life!
This is a fairly recent add for Snapchat, but it’s sparked so much creativity among everyone using it.
Snapping faces on mannequins is just the beginning, I promise. Try playing charades with your following. Snap a background and then make a scene with emojis based on a movie, book, song, or television show.
Here's how to do it:

If you're captioning things like crazy and adding emojis to your scenes, it's time to break out my most effective tool for engaging my Snapchat family:
3. Start a weekly segment
Look, I’ll do most of the work on this one. Here is a potential idea to create content around for every day of the week:
- Monday Motivation,
- Tuesday’s Thoughts,
- Wednesday Wishes,
- Throwback Thursdays,
- Full of it Fridays,
- Silly Saturdays,
- Super Sundays.
I do Monday Motivations and several people who follow me have said it’s the only reason they keep Snapchat.
Powerful stuff.
Pick one of these (or make your own) and start snapping every week on the week. People are programmed to look for consistency. We crave rhythm. Adding some to your feed keeps people coming back.
