IS YOUR COMPASSION SITUATIONAL? ~While a popular topic, compassion is often misunderstood and therefore insufficiently practiced.~

It's worth reflecting upon. Do colour, creed, wealth, location or other external variable determine levels of compassion?

Equanimity, accommodation & acceptance are universal values to ensure compassion independent of variables. Especially the Golden Rule.

One other discernment: do you know what compassion means?

The etymology of the word is this:

Com=with

Passion=suffering

It means "to be with another's suffering."

That "being with" is an extraordinary gift, healing beyond words, a presence of Grace, when offered freely, given generously, without expectation.

And especially when it's free of the tendency to fix, correct, judge, shame or some other unconscious behaviour that makes another's suffering about us, not about them.

Practice always.

First with yourself. (Because we are often our harshest, even most violent, critics of ourselves).

Disrupt that. It causes such suffering - within and without.
