At CMI Toyota we take climate change seriously which is why we’re proud to introduce you to our exclusive Carbon Neutral Program. This program allows owners to offset a portion of CO2 emission produced by their vehicle.

This is the first time a South Australian automotive retailer has developed an initiative that automatically offsets a portion of CO2 emissions produced by new vehicles sold.

Climate change is everybody’s problem.

It's a FACT.

Every day, the cars we drive pump out hundreds of kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2). It’s all part of the normal operation of the internal combustion engine - something that many of us simply accept.

However, these emissions of CO2 and other “Greenhouse gases” are trapping the earth’s heat in the atmosphere – leading to rising global temperatures, climate change and an uncertain future for us and our environment.

There is something we can do.

The amount of carbon dioxide produced by your car is proportional to the amount of fuel it consumes. Petrol vehicles make 2.5kg of CO2 per litre, while diesel vehicles make 2.7kg of CO2 for each litre. Some diesel engines will make less CO2 than the equivalent petrol model.

Introducing Canopy and Greening Australia

These not-for-profit environmental organisations are engaged by CMI Toyota to handle every aspect of the Carbon Neutral Program, including planning, compliance, CO2 monitoring and tree care. 

Together they have planted the ‘CMI Forests’ and have offset customers’ vehicle emissions since the program’s inception in 2007.

The forests which are located on former farmland near Hartley, Langhorne Creek and the Coorong today continue to grow and be cared for.

By purchasing a new vehicle from CMI Toyota you will have the opportunity to match CMI Toyota’s contribution to the program by making a small donation to further offset the emissions of your vehicle.

Support the Carbon Neutral Program

In an initiative designed to ensure a brighter future for our children, CMI Toyota will offset the carbon emissions of each new Toyota they sell, for the first 6 months of the vehicle’s life.

On your behalf, CMI Toyota will support environmental charity Canopy to retire carbon credits and support the growth and development of the CMI Customer Forests.

When you collect your new vehicle you will be offered the opportunity to match CMI Toyota’s contribution to the Carbon Neutral Program and further offset your vehicle’s CO2 emissions for an extended driving period of up to 36 months. CMI Toyota will handle the entire transaction on your behalf.

On delivery of your new vehicle you will receive

? A certificate of cover from Canopy that outlines the donation to Canopy and the amount of CO2 that Canopy has undertaken to offset on your behalf. Every dollar of the CMI Carbon Neutral Program will pass into Canopy’s (ACBI) tax deductible fund.

When you collect your vehicle, you will receive a Tax Receipt/ Donation Certificate to validate any taxation claim to which you may be entitled.

? A Carbon Neutral Program Sticker that you can proudly display on your new Toyota, demonstrating your commitment to responsible action on climate change.

? Peace of mind and the satisfaction that you have made a personal positive contribution to the environment.
