Your Comfort Zone is a Dead End

Public ?speaking was something I dreaded when I first started out.  Waiting for my turn to get in front of the room to share about my business was nerve wracking. My beating heart was going a mile a minute. So instead of getting out there to meet people, I chose to hide in my office.

Eventually the time to step it up had arrived.  The desire to expand my business was greater than the desire to remain in my comfort zone. That’s when hiding behind my computer ceased to remain as an option.  

I had to face my fear of public speaking. So I did what I always do when change was necessary.  I turned to the other entrepreneurs who were in the same mastermind group as I was. We were all working with the same business coach and I trusted them.    

That’s when I heard about Toastmasters. The accountability from the mastermind group and Toastmasters was exactly what I needed. I seized this opportunity to put a new spin on public speaking. Over the months my fear of public speaking subsided.

Is it totally gone? No. Very large groups still cause my heart to beat fast. However, that doesn’t stop me from speaking to those audiences.
