Is your colleague flirting with you?

Your colleague has suddenly become over attentive, comments on your appearance more than your work, invites you out for lunch and spends time discussing trivial issues more than he needs to. You infer that he's either gone over the top or interested in you. How can you find out if your colleague is flirting with you? Here are a few pointers to help you:

Long meetings: If the 10-minute meeting stretches to 1-hour, you can bet that your colleague or boss has some other designs. Does he find excuses to discuss irrelevant topics or take a special interest in having a conversation with you? Make a note of these.

Talks unusually loudly when you are around: This is basically to seek attention. Sudden outbursts of laughter, with this particular person being the loudest in the entire group are a sure shot giveaway.

Meeting accidentally: Bumping into each other at the nearby coffee machine, or suggestions for lunch and before you know it he/she has already planned your next meeting and many other future ones.

Talking about personal interests: You might find the conversation shifting from work to more personal topics. This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in you.

Seeking approval: Observe how your crush acts with your friends. Eager to meet them, wanting to spend time with them, just so that he/she can get their approval.

The red face: Does the person in question blush when you look at him or her? His or her sympathetic nervous system is probably going into overdrive. Blushing is another giveaway.

Trouble conversing: Observe if he or she has trouble speaking to you or uses jumbled words when talking to you? This will probably be in the initial stages of your meeting.

Touching: Is he/she trying to enter your personal space, and are you allowing it? Does he or she move closer to you and/or touch you subtly, such as with a part of your hand or a touch of your cheek?

Use these pointers and find out if your colleague means more than just business.
