If your not cold calling your best clients someone else is

I been in the B2B space for over 18 years and have heard the gurus say cold calling is dead. Your one funnel away from what you need. Work in your warm market only. I am here to tell you that is bullshit.

Now you may be like what do you mean my funnel works great and I use referrals. While I agree they can and do work to a point. If you are going to scale your business and get the best clients your going to have to go after them. Grant Cardone was right when he said if they don't know you they can't flow you. If your just starting out you have to get as much attention as you can.

While funnels, ads and content can help you down this path you have to remember the big fish get caught on the line not in the net. Think of it this way your funnel is a net in the social media ocean catching little fish and different fish. It may be getting fish you can't even eat. So you get good, bad and ok fish. Where when your line fishing your way more specific in your actions and bait. The fish your going after likes certain baits. So if you want to play with the big boys your going to have to put out the right bait for them.


A bait is the problem you solve for their company. If you have a skill that will save them thousands of dollars you can charge more than a skill that saves them hundreds of dollars. This is where cold calling comes in. You learn to craft your deal towards what they need. Also other hunters are trying to get that fish. Its a trophy fish with tons of meat. They don't click on funnels because they don't have to. Now a warm introduction is great but you got to get a few big ones to get into that pond.


So here are a few quick tips on landing a big whale though cold calling.

  1. Make it about them when call in. Don't pitch your company and services right from the start.
  2. Do some research on the company and find out what they are trying to accomplish. You can do this industry specific as well. What are they dealing with right now that you can help with.
  3. Ask for your prospect by first name only. If you don't know the name of your key person ask the gatekeeper for help
  4. Understand its a numbers game but make sure every dial is a potential key client you want to land.

Just remember like the hot girl in high school everyone wants to date her but the person who has the guts to ask her out is going to have a lot better of a chance to go on a date.
