Is your clean agent system ready to protect computer/IT room???
Most IT professionals give little thought to fire protection. They feel confidant that their clean agent system will extinguish a fire if needed. They see the cylinders in the corner and the normal green light is on the clean agent control panel. There are several factors in keeping a clean agent system operating properly. First, is the clean agent system AND the enclosure being inspected every 6 months per NFPA 2001? IS the inspection done by a a certified contractor and are all components being tested and/or inspected? Does the system report alarms and trouble to the main building fire alarm panel? I would like to bring up the topic of clean agent room enclosure integrity. NFPA 2001: 7.4 addresses this issue and is rarely looked at by our industry. 7.4 states that "the enclosure should be inspected every 12 months for integrity and if uncertainty exists the enclosure should be retested with a door fan test".
