Your Circle of Influence
Warren Barry
Speaker for TEC Canada and Vistage International. Conductor of the Aerial Symphony.
What is your circle of influence? Who are they? How many do you have around you? How important is it??
I have spoke to many peer advisory groups in the past across North America, and have seen the benefit of having a circle of influence.?People to run idea’s by, to challenge your thinking, and to hold you accountable.?The value is pretty clear.
It wasn’t until I joined TEC Canada as a member where it really struck me.?I realized that the idea of being a member is valuable, but,an idea without action is only an idea. But when I had the experience of being a member, was when it really hit me. ?
To have a table of peers to express a struggle to, without judgement, and then have them challenge your thinking to?the point of asking yourself if you are even asking the?right question??Truly getting clarity on the problem.?Then having multiple perspectives to the same problem.?
Recently, I had a one to one meeting with my Chair Gord Moker, and again it hit me “there is so much power in having someone challenge your thinking”.?An outsiders perspective. Someone who has knowledge that you don’t.?Someone to hold your feet to the fire.?Someone to hold you accountable.?I know that I can find it pretty easy to let myself off the hook when I don’t have the answers.?

When people tell me that joining TEC Canada has been a game changer for their business and life, I get it.
As a business owner, we know that it’s lonely at the top.?Who do you have to talk to? Who understands what you are going through??Who holds you accountable??Who is your circle of influence??
Have you thought about joining a peer advisory group??You will thank yourself if you do.?I’ve already thanked myself at month three.?
Something to think about…..
