Your choices reflect your ambitions, not your fears
Covid was tough on the business. Especially in the hospitality and events business. But adversity drives innovation.?
My YEG! colleague Pier Paolo Pecchini posted this, this morning.
It got me thinking of the 2003 film Touching the Void. The film is inspiring. One of its lessons can be condensed into “If you don’t keep making decisions, you’re stuffed”.
When faced with Covid 19 Yeg! decided to invest in event technology. A multi-million-dollar investment in an events business when the world is on lockdown? That took faith.
Thankfully It paid off. Otherwise, I would be writing a very different story today.

It paid off because the investment quickly enabled Yeg! to offer clients, who had their teams spread to the winds of Covid, the opportunity to get everyone together through high-quality virtual events streamed worldwide. During Covid on World Creativity Day, we connected 80,000 people around the globe. Despite Covid, we safely, physically hosted more than one hundred and sixty events bringing together firms and clients, teams, investors and investees in 4k broadcast-quality events in a period when the event industry was on its knees.
That tech, great content, ease of access and careful work to keep?latency below 150?milliseconds (the maximum before conversations start to feel unnatural) made our client's virtual events as good as they got during Covid.
Now, that decision, the experience and the tech have developed. We have packaged it, and much more into Yeg!’s D*Motion digital event platform, which has put Yeg! at the forefront of the hybrid event business. ?
Our platform and the team behind it are enabling and measuring the whole event journey from marketing, registration, and collecting everything from payments to meal preferences. We are checking in event attendees online and offline. We are building and deploying client event sites and apps. We are creating great content, and streaming it. Our client's audiences are engaging with it - collaborating with each other. We are measuring not just clicks and views but sentiment with neuro analysis. All this is creating hybrid events where the physical and virtual world blend, well not quite seamlessly but very close to it. Interactive car launches, training, AGMs, Q&As. Our holographic-powered interactivity is enabling retailers to show how new capsules will look to customers all over the world, simultaneously.

So what's the point of this post? Of course, I’d love to see if we can help you grow. Call me! But more than anything when I wanted to remind myself that when it comes to our growth and success, few skills are more important than the ability to make good decisions. And that it is indecision that will kill you, not making a bad choice. More than anything we should prioritise the ability to keep making decisions.
