Given the current quarantine period we’re in, there seem to be a rat-race not just amongst students but even professionals to horde online certifications so that they’re able to justify either to themselves or recruiters post the perpetual quarantine period that they utilised their time well.
But I have a question.
Is your certification REALLY adding value to you or your work?
Before you enroll in any certification program, ask yourself two questions:
1. Would it improve the quality of work that I deliver?
2. Would it serve as a ladder for financial gain?
If the answer to either of the question is a NO then don’t enroll in that program. A person not just invests money but time, energy, resources, and if the program doesn’t fetch you the above two results it’s exactly what John Stuart Mill stated while defining Opportunity Cost: The loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen. The same time, energy, money & resources could have been utilized for a better cause which wouldn’t have been a lost cause.
On the other hand, if the answer to the above questions is a YES then don’t just create financial avenues but prove your mettle with improved work quality so that you’re lauded both within and outside your circle because if you don’t showcase that improvement, people around can gauge that it’s nothing but a fa?ade.
Just like Spider Man says “With great power, comes great responsibility”, Sadaf says” With an added certification, comes greater accountability!
Choose wisely. Stop being a RAT.

4 年True indeed. I call this rat-race is like a death race with slow poisoning. So think twice before taking any action. It good to inspire from some one but following blindly will not going to add any value

4 年Sadaf Tahir You read my mind. People do harp about the number of certifications they hold and their work is still questionable!!! Quantity is clearly not a safe option to resort to.
