A simple act that can have a major impact on our life and career is being Intentional!
How many of us have experienced being on top of our game in the first week of Jan? This is the year we will change our lives and then...
- Life happens
- Distractions take over
- And that motivation wanes..
So, as we embark on the new year, it may be helpful to set aside some time to think of your career focus for the year!
To help you come up with your Career Focus for having a rocking 2024, I am sharing my Top 5 Themes you may want to consider for the coming year:
1. Work-Life Integration
I meet so many professionals who are doing brilliantly at work but have no life outside. And I am fully mindful that there are periods of intense focus required. That is all fair if you have a choice in it!
Otherwise, let's use the flexibility of schedule that has come in work in the last few years, especially post-pandemic.
There is not going to be a complete work/life balance. Work-Life integration is something worth pursuing.
2. Standing up for Yourself
This is beyond the boundary of having a life. Standing up for yourself may come in many forms:
3. Learning 1 New Skill
Forget about the long list of skills you will gain. Let's pick just 1! And really get committed to it.
And who says that it has to be professional skill. When you pick up a creative activity, it boosts your creativity in all aspects of life. So, if creativity is calling, let's go for it!
4. Building your Personal Brand
The best way to future-proof your career is to have a brand. I am absolutely biased to this theme for everyone. We have the privilege of building our brand from the comforts of our home like never before. Let's not waste this opportunity!
5. Building a Strong Network
Not in a cringy spammy way but building strong career connections of mentors, allies, and friends. Together, we can all grow much faster than being lone wolves!
I have a deep-dive YT video for 2024 on the topic to provide you some examples or actionable tips on each of these 5 areas.
By the way, my Career Theme -
"Say No unless there is a good reason to Say Yes"
Product & Portfolio Management | Secured Lending | Wealth | Client Growth Strategy | Business Management | Transformation | Data | Digital | Underwriting | Expense Management | Citibank | India | Singapore
1 年Hi Shub Faujdar, so aptly put and I fully resonate with the theme you have chosen for yourself - "Say No unless there is a good reason to Say Yes" It is easier said than done, sometimes we all spend years in our corporate careers and never put this in action.
