So, what’s the IMEX take? For me, the need to push beyond inspiration to action has never been more critical. I would encourage everyone to acknowledge the potential and influence they have. And (I know this is a cliché) to think big but start small. Focus on the areas where you can have the most impact. We’ve chosen three.?

It’s not supposed to be easy?

As Brené Brown reminded those of us lucky enough to catch her at PCMA Convening Leaders earlier this month—embracing the risk, uncertainty and emotional exposure inherent in leadership can be uncomfortable. Her insight is one that I’ve valued ever since I heard her speak at our first IMEX America back in 2011. And one that I’m holding fast to as we set out on our Impact 2.0 journey.?

Why hope isn’t just an emotion

“Hope isn’t just an emotion, it’s a measurable, actionable process”. Brené Brown’s words from PCMA Convening Leaders seem to echo the mindset that has seen Californian communities pull together, to act on hope in the face of despair. I’ll leave you with this: “What remains intact is our solidarity, our knowledge that we all inhabit the same fragile planet, and that we are only as strong as the bonds we form and the hands we hold.”?
