Is your business wasting its time on social media?

Today's marketing is all about reaching and engaging with your target audience or clients using the right channel at the right time. People are more tech-savvy than before but also busier and have a shorter attention span. Traditional marketing channels are expensive, restrictive, and certainly not adapted to today's fast-paced world, let alone tomorrow's.
While lots of businesses are having a hard time keeping their website up to date or managing their social media accounts, smart cars, speakers, shoes, connected umbrellas, and connected appliances are entering our lives. There are more and more communication channels, and it is getting harder to attract and keep people’s attention. If you think there is a tremendous amount of noise on the internet today, wait until you see three years from now or even next year. If you think things are going back the way they use to be, well, think again we are not in a Boys II Men's song.
Okay, I get it. Some of you think it's a waste of time and money. And perhaps you're not wrong in some cases. But, just because some are not using social media marketing correctly and are not getting results doesn't mean the tools are bad. While you are still debating if you should be active on your business social media platforms, your competitors are engaging with your potential customers. They are building trust and positioning themselves as specialists in your field. People go to them for questions and insights. Sooner or later, your potential customers will also be buying from them. That is just the reality. People like to buy from places and other people they trust. I bet you do the same. If you think technology will wait for you or that you will catch it at the next station, you are wrong.
Of course, it's not too late to start, but you've already left money on the table and unless you are running a nonprofit this cannot be a good thing. Like a good friend of mine would say, You snooze, you lose. You don’t need to know everything about social media to get started nor do you need to spend a fortune on it. But, do get started. Get a sense of what's out there and how it can help your business. Ask questions and inform yourself. Social media marketing can be a waste of time and money, but if you integrate it as part of your marketing strategy /?str?t?d?i/ and when it's done well, it truly will help you grow your organization.
