A top priority for the leadership team at Atlantic Bay is to continue to invest in and educate our team by hosting events like the 2021 Economic Forecast. The main goal: to help our team understand what 2021 might bring so that we are better educators for our clients and industry partners.
Pouring knowledge and resources into our team members is a major component of fostering a workplace culture of support, and we’re always working to set our ABMG team members up for success!
Nearly two-thirds of the Mortgage Bankers with Atlantic Bay utilize MBS Highway daily or weekly. Forecasting the mortgage industry for 2021 and beyond was the name of the game to kick off our week. More than 500 participants joined Brian Holland, CEO & Founder of Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group, Bill Hitchcock, Vice President of Business Development at Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group and our guest speaker Barry Habib. Barry is the founder of MBS Highway, author of the Amazon #1 bestseller Money in the Streets, and is an undeniable wealth of knowledge in our industry. Between these three gentlemen, our eyes were opened to a fountain of industry data and insights to help us best prepare for the road ahead.
Where’s the market now?
“The housing market is the best market we’ve ever seen. Equity built in homes is at an all-time high, that means you can do a lot of things with a cash out refi, debt consolidation, and move up your buyers. There’s a lot of good investments in yourself that can be made at a time like this,” Barry said. These were just some of the benefits that came out of 2020.
With these lower rates comes the lack of inventory and home building which led to accelerated home selling times and often selling for more than asking price – even leading to bidding wars.
In order to understand what the market is doing now, we must understand where we’ve been.
He spoke on how inflation and debt play pivotal roles in the market and how they work for - and against - homebuyers and sellers. But more importantly, how to analyze those factors at play in the market. He also focused on the true value of understanding the numbers so that you can best educate your clients and they can best lock in on a number that’s right for their families.
What’s next for 2021?
Barry threw out some eye-opening statistics based on the rates last year and a look into what might be next, and he’s predicting that we’ll see an explosion in first-time homebuyers over the next three years.
He also mentioned that we should shift our focus to the big picture and not stare at what’s right in front of us, both professionally and personally.
“Right now, a lot of you are focused IN your business. But I want to challenge you to change your focus to work ON your business.” Barry Habib encouraged industry professionals to take the extra time and utilize the resources they have at hand in the current real estate finance market.
