Your Business and Facebook Changes
Since its infancy, Facebook has had one core objective, and that is to connect people. As we all know, they have achieved this, and better yet, have connected the majority of the world. As of January this year, Facebook has approximately 1.8 billion monthly active users on the platform and is on pace to hit 2 billion by the end of 2018. To efficiently serve billions of people, there will always be change. Period. Just think about a business that serves 100,000 people. Tons of change occurs in learning and becoming better at serving those people to, number one, add value, and number 2, keep them coming back. Facebook, like any business, is making changes daily to build their platform better than it was yesterday and most importantly be a place for you, the user, to spend more time.
What Has Changed With Facebook?
One recent change you may have heard about is the shift in content being presented in your newsfeed and the increase in seeing posts from people and not so many posts from pages, aka your “business.” But since the release of this algorithm update by Facebook, we have analyzed over 100 accounts who serve millions of people throughout the world, and key performance indicators like reach, engagement, shares, likes, etc. have actually increased in these areas for the publishers posting content to pages. This data tells the story clearly. As long as your page is posting relevant content to the audience who follows it, Facebook will always reward that. At the end of the day, people want more of the information they VALUE and that information is up to us, the publishers, to give them.
What Hasn’t Changed With Facebook?
Facebook serves people, and for that reason, they are in the people business. There is more that has not changed than has with the platform. In its simplest form, Facebook wants to know one thing about all of its users, and that is what do they VALUE. Once they understand what you value they go the the next step, and that is to give you what you VALUE. That is why each day, people are spending more and more time on the platform. So let's take the question a step further. What will never change? People living in their VALUES. So if you’re in business and know your product has VALUE, then you need to understand who your customer is at scale and give them the VALUE.
How Do You Give Value at Scale?
Giving value is one of the best parts of being in business. People come to you to help them solve a problem. Whether you sell clothes, cars, vacations or bake cakes, you are fulfilling a void for your customer. Facebook is the tool that will allow you to reach that customer at scale. Like any valuable tool, there is a cost, but with Facebook if you know who your customer is they will reward you with LOW COST ATTENTION. One formula for a high return on investment is (know your target customer ) + (low cost attention) + (add value) = transaction. Yes, that is a simple way of putting it, but at the end of the day, the only time price is an objection is in the absence of VALUE.

6 年Facebook Groups are definitely a channel to give some attention. I think more than anything groups are centered around solving a problem as I have seen data recently that shows the majority of post made in them are question based. If you create the group and understand the intent of why your users join then your engagement should do well with the users. To answer your question on the organic side of things. Think first on what your audience values, why did they follow your business in the first place and what makes them emotional enough to take action on engaging with your content. This will take some fishing as your audience grows and your product grows. My best advice and what we have seen work time and time again and that is start with the END in mind and if that is serving your customer you will do just that.
