Is Your Business Crumbling? Or Is It Built to Last?

During my travels around the world, I've noticed some strategies that survive the test of time.

Take Sigiriya, or Lion’s Rock, in Sri Lanka. This isn’t just a fortress. It’s a masterclass in strategic thinking—a 200-meter-high symbol of strength, protection, and sustainability.

King Kashyapa didn’t build it just to impress. He constructed it with advanced engineering—water systems, gardens, and fountains—thinking far beyond the short term.

Now, let’s talk about your business.

Just like Sigiriya, you need a solid foundation—not a house of cards built on gimmicks and empty promises. That’s the Coach Trap: flashy but unsustainable. You need more than just short-term success.

Here’s the blueprint:

? Strategic Protection – Like Sigiriya’s lion entrance, your business needs to be fortified against fake trends and quick fixes. Build with purpose, not just for show. Be different, be authentic.

? Sustainability & Long-Term Vision – Sigiriya’s enduring features weren’t a coincidence. Your business needs to be built for longevity, not a flash in the pan.

? Honest Feedback – Sigiriya’s Mirror Wall allowed for honest critique. In business, the same applies: listen to feedback, improve, and grow. This is where you need to avoid the Coach Trap.

Awesome analogy. I would just add that in the process it would be the best if you can build a loyal community. This will allow you to thrive in all market conditions. And the easiest way to do this is by focusing more on the giving side, not on the selling. P.S. Any tips on strategic protection, Greg?
